Favors - donation to a charity

I really love this idea. I would love to be able to donate to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in honor of my mother. I got inspired by Goldie's favors, thank you Alissa! Its a wonderful way to memorialize someone who can't be there on that day. I think I will still be able to do a photobooth and candy bar in addition to the donation. How much are you donating per person? If you dont want to disclose the amount, can you give me a ballpark figure? TIA!

    That is a great idea.  We are doing the same.  We will be donating to St. Jude Children's Hospital $5 per person, and my company is going to match it.

    I shouldn't say my company, because I don't own the company but my employer is matching our donation so its $10 per person.

    We actually alloted like $300 for favors, but we'll be making a larger donation to the Juvenile Diabetes foundation. My cousin passed away suddenly Aug 30th, 1996. He was hit by a car at 14 years old. He was diagnosed with JD at 7. In his honor we'll be making a donation - "the gift that keeps on giving" :) I'm going to type up a small poem and place it on each tables about the favor we've given.

    aww so glad you like the idea! We felt it was the best way to honor Serban's mom. I'm making a flat donation of $500 and we also purchsed breast cancer bracelets and the money we paid for those went to the foundation as well. We are also going a cigar roller and flip flops for the ladies as another favor.

    I'm also doing a candy bar and a donation. Not sure if we are going to do a certain amt pp or a just a couple hundred dollars but we are donating to either the humane society or another animal rescue society since FI and I adopted both our dogs and love this charity.

    I think donation as a favor is a beautiful thing! I think whatever you can afford is what you should donate. Every donation always makes a difference!

    We are doing this as well in lieu of favors.  We will leave a note on the plate (instead of menus).  Can't remember what my budget alloted, I think like $3 per person?

    Thanks girls! You have all been really helpful. I think this is definitely something we can fit in our budget and something I really want to do. I want my Mom to be a part of our wedding day but not in an obvious way and I think this is the perfect idea. Alissa, can you email me about the cards you made up for the donation?     Jaime thats what I was thinking too, that any donation large or small is meaningful. I am definitely doing this now! LOL just like your candy bar epiphany the other day, I am having a donation one! I always wanted to do it, and felt guilty that I wasnt, but now my mind is made up!

    We had about 300 guests and donated something like $450...We gave to the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund...We got pins from them and put the pins on bookmarks with little charms and a quote with information on the charity!

    LOVE LOVE LOVE this - it's a beautiful way to have your mama with you ALL day!I would contact the Susan G Komen Foundation -they may have something that you can incorporate on your cards :):) My sister did that and did a flat $500 - it was awesome!

    We will be donating about 300 to the American Lung Assication.  FI mom died from lund cancer and we wanted to honor her but not really draw to much attention to it.  I made cards to place on each placesetting (PIB).  They are made from seeded paper so the guests can plant them in their garden.  So it's kinda like two favors in one.

    I am doing this as well. My mother and grandmother both passed away from Ovarian cancer so we are donating to the Ovations for a the Cure of Ovarian Cancer. The cards will say: In lieu of favors or some other creation We've taken your name and made a special donation to Ovarians for the cure of ovarian cancer In honor of...
