Escort Card Help

I'm beginning to print out my escort cards now that I have a majority of the RSVP's back and had a few clarifying questions (I know, some of these may sound silly but before I start, I just want to double check, I feel so scatter-brained!!):

- We are having a plated meal that the guests have already pre-selected when they sent their RSVP's back, therefore, I must create an escort card for each individual guest (the idea is to color code them so the servers know where they need to be placed), correct?

- The escort cards are tented and I was planning to hand write the table number on the inside of the card once we do the seating chart.

- Here's how I was planning to print out each guest name (depending on their age/relationship status):

"Mrs. Jane Doe" (married)
"Ms. Jane Doe" (unmarried and over 18)
" Mr. John Doe" (unmarried/married over 18)
" John Doe" (under 18)
"Jane Doe" (under 18)

Are the names appropriate?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Escort Card Help

  • Love the idea of the cards being color coded! I can't remember where I saw it, but it was advised to put guests names on the front AND back, so guests across the table know the name of who is sitting across from them. Good luck!

  • We aren't color coding as the coordinator advised us the servers will still be asking folks what they ordered.
  • I think that the names sound good!

I think they look great. Our venue also doesn't need to know exactly who is having what, they will know that Mr. and Mrs. John Doe have one chicken marsala and one grilled salmon and then the table captain will approach them to clarify who is having what.

One other note which may or may not affect you: if a married woman has kept her maiden name, she should be addressed as "Ms." and not "Mrs."

  • Thanks for the feedback, ladies!! Much appreciated!

Ajoyd - how will the banquet captain know that Mr and Mrs. John Doe have one chicken and one salmon? Thanks for clarification, I don't understand how all of this stuff works... :)
  • Mtishawt - we're not doing place cards also, I figured they can select their seats at the table they've been assigned to.
