Give us a little more info and I'm sure we can help!

    1. Budget?

    2. DIY or all-inclusive?

    3. Traditional Ballroom, urban, or both?

    4. Are you dead set on having an outdoor space?

Some ideas off th top of my head are the Old Red Courthouse, 7 Senses (www.7senses.biz--really cool), The Starlight Room, Hickory Street Annex, Three Three Three First Avenue, 2616 Commerce

    1. um about 2500 - 3000 on renting a venue

    2. Either would be find but of course if it is all inclusive the budget will go up which is fine

    3. Either or or both

    4. No im not dead set on outside

    thanks for the help

All the ones Marissa suggested are cool with the Old Red probably being the most traditional.

Here are some nice ones, most of which are all inclusive (but I have no idea what the actual rental fees are):  The Adolphus, Arlington Hall, Marie Gabrielle, The Stoneleigh, Hall of State, Scottish Rite, Dallas Museum of Art, The Melrose (my venue), the Arboretum, the Fairmont, Crow Collection of Asian Art, Hotel ZaZa, the Magnolia, Texas Discovery Gardens at Fair Park, Filter Building at White Rock Lake

Also check out Wedding Wire--that is a great source for reviews on most venues and you can search by zip code.

The Filter Building is $2000 to rent on a Saturday and you have to rent chairs at $1.00 each and then also tables.  They have an approved caterer list where I'm sure you can find someone you love.
Pros = on the lake, cool look/feeling by itself.
cons = since it's a historic building you have limited decorations (nothing can really hang from the ceiling, no new nails in the wall..)

    Hope it helps.

Orion ballroom, Atriums at Park west. I like venues downtown but some are really hard to get to, case in point is Marie Gabrielle's, gorgeous venue but they also don't have a really good rain plan, you get married in the lobby if weather is bad. HTH

How many guests are you anticipating?  Capacity can help eliminate some of these options (and add others).

There's a new place called Lofty Spaces. We just went to the grand opening on Friday. They have their own caterer, but they don't really have their act together, yet, so we're using an outside caterer (which is possible for a $250 fee). We get to bring in our own alcohol, so that's saving a ton!

There's also Winfrey Point on White Rock Lake, but it books quickly.

My favorite was 7 Senses--check it out just for the heck of it--it is so freakin cool. You wouldn't need any decorations there, and you can bring your own caterer and alcohol

Well I went crazy looking too and decided on the Stoneleigh up in there penthouse.  We are having 100 or so people.  The hotel is providing the catering and drinks.  Minimum for a Saturday night in the penthouse isi 7500.00 I believe.  That is food and drinks.

They also have a ballroom but I don't know those prices.  I stayed there a few weekends ago and the service was amazing!

I also looked at the Magnolia, The Farimont, The Joule, The Westin downtown, The Sheraton, The Tribute, Stonebriar country club, City, Marie Gabrielle, The Bello, The Tower Club, Avanti, and a few more but can't remember.  If you are interested in any of those I can tell you what I saw and felt.

If you are having a small wedding, try Third Space next door to Neiman Marcus downtown.  We had our reception at the Dallas World Aquarium and it was awesome! But that depends on your budget for food, etc.  I think it ran us about $10K 6 years ago.
