Cleaning the E-Ring

Anyone clean their engagement ring at home? What do you use?And if not, do you go to the jeweler where you're FI bought the ring?The jeweler where my FI got my ring is kind of far from where I live.

    You can usually take it to any jeweler. However windex and dishsoap actually works fine. I saw it in a martha stewart magazine and was recommended by de beers. I was a little skeptical, so I tried it on an old ring and it worked fine. I've been using it on my ring when I cant get to the jewelers.

    The jeweler that FI got my ring from is in the next large town over so we just have them clean it whenever we're in the area.  I don't clean it at home but it doesn't get too dirty because I take it off if I'm doing something messy.

    I clean it once every two weeks or so. A bit of dishsoap in hot, hot water... let it soak 10 minutes then scrub lightly with a soft toothbrush. Dry with a towel that doesn't let lint stick to your ring.

    I use glass cleaner...my grandmother has used it on her 3ct flawless diamond for 47 years and has no complaints. :-)

    I had my mom clean it when I flew home last week. She said she bought some cleaner from target and soaked it for a few hours. She then scrubbed it with a toothbrush afterward and it's good as new.

    its funny, i dont really wear jewelry much and so i hadnt really thought about it getting dirty. this board post reminded me that i got a little container of jewelry cleaner at a wedding fair i went to in february. so i'm cleaning it right now for the first time since i got it last christmas. my finger feels naked.
