Quick registry question

I hate our Wal-Mart registry. Hatity hate hate!! Half the things on it right now are not available. And the other half the descriptions: MS HND VANILLA DREAM IMPORT-COTEMINAS S.A. Color/Size VANDRM/16X26 UPC: 0008576978522Are so freaking confusing I have no idea how anyone will get us anything off of it. I really want to delete the whole silly thing and get everything from BBB.DILEMMA! My redneck side of the family lives a good hour from the closest BBB. They really wanted Wal-Mart because it's closer for them. The china shop we registered at (in my hometown) is also where they could buy gifts from, but the specifically requested Wal-Mart.So, delete the damn Wal-Mart registry and start anew at BBB? Or keep it to appease them.

Re: Quick registry question

  • Keep it.  It's on their head to decipher it and you can always exchange stuff.

  • Is there a way you can keep it but put less stuff on it, so that you also have a reason to make a nice, easy to understand BBB registry for your less BBB-deprived guests? I think you are stuck with the Walmart registry if that side of the family actually asked for it.

  • Do the have the internet? They can buy anything online and have it shipped directly to you.
  • Yeah, Wal-Mart is super good about exchanging stuff. I just really want to make sure we get things we need, not just random crap off the Wal-Mart registry because no one knows what it is.I think the description I just posted is for placemats, but only because I want 6 and I'm pretty sure I did off-white. I have no idea though. It could be towels. Or hand towels. Or rags! Dammit.

  • Then again...what would they get you if they couldn't pick a registry gift?

  • I'm jealous. I wanted to register at Walmart (all time favorite store) but FI wouldn't let me. He's 100% union all the way and his "brothers" would get mad.Whatever. Bring on the price rollbacks!
  • The sportsgal, that's a good idea, but they're pretty backwoods about internet stuff. They (wal-mart) have it all online, but about half the stuff even online is not available anymore. It's pretty frustrating. And since I can't remember what it is, I'm not sure how to replace it.

  • shelly, the china shop and wal-mart and right next to each other, so they could just go to the china shop, I don't know what was wrong with it in the first place.I guess what I need to do is pull out my ultimate registry list again and see what's on what, and figure it out. Cuz I have sooo much free time right now. Maybe that will be my task at the hotel over the weekend.

  • I just bought a gift of a Walmart registry and they had no way to print the registry in the store. So you have to go the little kiosk, find what you want to get, and memorize a few things in case they don't have what you want. I picked 3 things and then still had to go back because they didn't have any of them. So my vote is Walmart registry sucks. But, you can return pretty much anything so it is probably safer than having no registry that these people will use.

  • This is why I'm not worried about BBB going under in the recession even though a lot of other home stores have. Their registry is really easy to use, and they must be pulling in major business by being one of the most ubiquitous wedding registry sites. What kind of customer service is it to make your wedding registry into gibberish? Can you even click on the items to go to a page and see what they are? Any pictures?

  • Sarah, no pictures, only an ISBN number, but when I search the ISBN number I get no hits, so I don't know what's up with that. I mean, it has general sections (housewares, etc) but who wants to search 10 toasters trying to figure out if PC TOSTR SLST meants some brand toaster in stainless steel? Ridic.

  • Can you just cancel the Walmart registry and start fresh at another store? Target's registry is wonderful and very easy.
  • Welp. I'd delete the wal-mart reg and tell them to either get gift cards from there or to shop for BBB stuff online. But I'm a wal-mart hater. They have everythign and it's awesome, but I hate that they only have like 3 registers out of 30 open at a time and 20 people in each line. ughhh.
  • Jeez, that is ridiculous. Why is it that so many companies are startled and mystified by the wonders of the interwebz? You' think that a lot of the things we've mentioned should be just basic common sense.Of course, we're all hanging out on a message board with absolutely terrible coding, so who knows.

  • I hates me some walmart, but keep it. No need to confuse people about changing it now. But tell me why they can't shop online?
