  Hey Meg,We thought about what we wanted and what we would need.  We first started off at BBB.  That was overwhelming b/c the store is so huge & has everything (which is good!). We still ended up wanting other things so we ended up going to Crate & Barrel and Macy*s afterwards.All in all we spent a good half of the day registering (about 6 hours).  It was crazy and tiring, but a lot of fun.We asked for everyday china, stuff we needed in the kitchen, bathroom & linens, sheets, etc for the bedroom.Have fun with registering!

  I did BBB and Bloomingdales...I did not get one thing off Bloomingdales if I had to do it again I wouldve just had BBB they have things in all price ranges I registered for items $2.99 up to $499 big items sometimes people chip in onthem  so register for what you want

  We started at Bed bath and Beyond and just went through each section and scanned stuff that we really wanted.  They also gave us a very comprehensive list of what to register for!    We couldn't do it in one day, it was just too exhausting.  We did a few sections at a time and kept going back. Our family wanted us to do a 2nd registry so we also went to Macy's and put some stuff on, but most of the stuff was on BBB.I agree, put stuff in all price ranges, as Jen said some people chip in together to get something bigger.Good Luck...it really is fun registering although it seems overwhelming at first!

  All I can think about is Macy's bedding and bath dept. I can't tell you how excited I am to get new towels, sheets, pillowcases, etc. I'll do it before my bridal shower, maybe it'll be a BBB "theme" without actually registering there, LOL.

  We didn't need linens or towels or anything-- really only needed kitchen stuff.  So we registered at Williams-Sonoma because I really like their stuff and they had pretty much everything we needed.We registered at Michael C. Fina for silver and a few assorted decorative items.  We picked there because we liked one of their silver patterns.And we registered at Tiffany's for crystal and china because again, we liked their stuff.We registered for a few things that cost $500+, and I got all of them at my shower.  Our mothers splurged, and my bridesmaids chipped in to get us our pots and pans.  I would just make sure that you have items in all sorts of price ranges so people in all sorts of financial situations have good options.  I would also try to register for informal stuff for your shower, but maybe more formal things like china and crystal and silver that make nice wedding gifts (people are not going to give you a pastry scraper as a wedding gift).  And don't feel bad-- if people don't buy you the expensive items on your registry but you want them, you can buy them later with money you received as gifts (in many cases at a completion discount).

  We did BB&B and kohls.  I had already bought all of my china and everyday dishes from the Lenox Outlet.  I more or less needed alot of kitchen supplies and a new bedding set.  I love the Rachel Ray cookware line and Kohls has most of her stuff in stock on the shelves plus I did not like any of the bedding sets at BB&B so I decided to register at both to give my guests options.

  I did BBB, C&B, and Macy's.  I got almost everything from all of them.For the expensive items remember that some people like to go in on group gifts and this lets them.  As long as you have a lot of items in various price ranges you'll be fine.

  I recommend doing one room at a time--much less overwhelming for me and FI! We did one day in the store (some stuff you need to really see vs. seeing a photo online) and then refined/changed/added stuff online.

  I haven't registered myself yet, so I have no advice in that department.My ony word of advise is to not really worry about registering until you are about 6 months out -- this is b/c many items could become discontinued or unavailable.  Then you have to start all over again for the items that you have to replace.  Might as well just do it once! :0)

  we did crate & barrel and BB&B.  ask for anything and everything and make sure to have some big ticket items on there (great for BP gifts or groups from work, etc.) and some very affordable gifts (great for shower wishing wells, add-ons, etc).
