What are your thoughts on decorating in the church? It's so open and big, I'm not sure how/if I'm going to decorate. I'm going to make "pew bows" out of cherry blossom branches but even hanging them is going to be difficult since the pews are slightly reclined. Any ideas?

I didn't get married there, but that is my church and it is absolutely gorgeous as is! There definitely isn't much that needs to be done :-)

What about attaching items with glue dots. St. Margret of Scotland was designed in a similar fashion to St. Ann Seaton, and the dots did great.

I just want to tie in the cherry blossoms in there. I think I might skip an altar arrangement (esp. since it's not center and would set off my OCD) so I was thinking of putting tall sprays in vases in front of the candles that are on those tall holders? Idk...

I haven't ever been inside the church, but based on what you have said about the pews being reclined and the church off-center...What if you had arrangements at the doors? You can have them either on the outside of the sanctuary, so people see them when they come in from outside, or you can place them right inside the doors in the sanctuary so when people turn around to see you, they see the arrangements as well- it would make for a good photo op!In terms of hanging them from the pews, have you thought about baskets, and hanging them with ribbon (like ribbon handles)? Or are the pews done in such a way that there is not a lip to hang them over?Are there side aisles that guests can be seated on/get to the seats from? If there are, and you are willing to block off the center aisle, you could do something along the floor/with ribbon or tulle or fancy cord looped on all the pews, and somehow maybe hang the cherry blossoms on the ribbon with hooks? So it free hanging in the middle of the main aisle entrance? I hope that makes sense; let me know if it doesn't and I can try explaining it better.If others are saying it doesn't need much, I would trust them. I know that my church is very ornate and beautiful inside, yet my first inclination was to decorate, decorate, decorate- I wanted to add my "personal touch". It took my mom, grandma, and lil sis to convince me that the church is gorgeous in itself, and doesn't need much, maybe 2 altar arrangements, if that. Remember, at the end of the day, your guests are there to see you and FI get married- not to see the church decorated. I was told, and am betting it is the same with my own, that most people won't even notice you have altar flowers, let alone other decorations. YOU are the best decoration needed!Hope those ideas help, and remember, don't overthink it!

The glue dots came off without a problem. I know that was father hopkins concern as well as he didnt want glue residue, but they just pulled right off.

i'm getting married in october and we are going to do rafia bows with purple grapes hanging off the pews. i love the idea of blocking off the center isle and have guest file into the isles form the side... great idea! maybe line the center isle with candle lanterns. i have a question... the fountain is directly in front of the main enterance. how are you walking down the isle? my father is walking me down the isle... so do we just walk around it or come in from one of the side doors? its not a big deal but i find myself wondering about it offten lol.
