OOT bags - who gets them

Just curious -- if you are doing OOT bags -- who's getting them?? Anyone who stays at the hotel overnight?? or just folks who travelled a long distance and is perhaps coming to town for 2 or 3 days. My mom and I are totally differing on this point. She wants to give a bag to everyone staying over at the hotel and I don't think this is necessary.

We did a bag for everyone who booked a hotel room at the hotel where we blocked off rooms. (To my knowledge, nobody stayed at that hotel for more than one night, but I could be wrong.)

I would hate for word to get around that only certain people got the bags, personally:
Cousin Staying for 3 Nights: "Mmm, weren't the cookies in the hospitality bag yummy?"
Cousin Staying for 1 Night: "What hospitality bag?"
Cousin Staying for 3 Night: *awkward silence*

Our bags cost us about $5 apiece. And that's mainly because the reusable bags we bought were $1.25 each, and we put a ton of goodies in them (we bought in bulk from BJ's Wholesale Club). So the price could easily come down if you get paper bags or cardboard gable boxes, and if you only put a few snacks in the bags.

Yes anyone who is staying at the hotel should get one.

How would you regulate it? Would your hotel be agreeable to monitor it? I would image it would get confusing with the different employees and different shifts. Plus, like mb said previously, what if Cousin 3 nighter is checking in the same time as Cousin 1 nighter. It's going to look funny when one gets a bag and the other doesn't.

    Another very good point.

Some hotels won't personalize who gets the bags and who doesn't (my OOT didn't, anyway). Or who gets which bag. All the bags had to be the same and they just gave a bag to anyone who registered a room under the "MB/Mr. MB Wedding".

Every person who books a room at your hotel should get an OOT bag.

Don't pick and choose who you think deserves a bag, it will be easier for you in the long run to make one per room.
