Flower Color Confusion

I'm having a hard time deciding what colors I should use for my bridesmaids/groomsmen/mothers/grandmothers, etc.  My wedding colors are peacock, silver, and black.  I'm getting married in September, so I'm not sure what is even in season.  I will be doing the flowers myself with the help of a friend.  I'm considering doing all the flowers white, but am concerned their flowers will look like my bouquet.  I know I do not want to add peacock feathers to the arrangements because I have several friends that have used that recently in their weddings.  Any suggestions on how I can make the others stand out against mine or other flower color options?

Re: Flower Color Confusion

  • What color are their dresses?  Are you doing only white flowers for your bouquet?

There's nothing wrong with having your bouquet look like your BM bouquets.  I've seen a lot of weddings where they are essentially the same, but the BM ones are smaller.

If you want different colors, I'd think you could easily go for purple flowers.  I've seen that work well with peacock color themes before.  There's such a variety of shades that you have a ton of choices with that color alone.
  • What about incorporating green and/or blue flowers into the BM's bouquets? I think it could also be fun to add black fiddlehead ferns!

as for knowing what flowers are in season - call a florist and ask or google it. I did a quick search and came up with this website: http://www.theflowerexpert.com/content/growingflowers/flowers-and-seasons

The black fiddlehead ferns is a great idea!  Their dresses are peacock and their shoes are black.  Silver is just an accent color.   It could add some black to their bouquets and leave mine all white.  Thanks for the suggestions!!

    Just a thought-
All white bouquets aren't always the best for a bride.  When you look back at photos, the white flowers are easily camoflauged into the gown.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • what about deep wine almost purple dahlias and maybe some that also have a bit of a sunset orange pop too? Together with a lot of the other suggestions you've got those might work well. :)

  • I think blues and purples would look great.
