Wedding insurance?

So I'm starting to become paranoid about stupid catastrophic things like my venue shutting down or burning to the ground days before my wedding. I'm thinking that insurance could make sense, if nothing else than to make me feel better. Has anyone else purchased it? Had to use it? Know what it costs? Think it's a ripoff?

it's def not a rip off for peace of mind. we used RV Nuccio for ours and i want to say it was around $250 - i consider this worthwhile since we almost had to use it when my 6 BM dresses from china turned up all f'ed up.

So does wedding insurance cover everything then, from venue to dresses to food? Or can you get add ons if you want something in the policy about dresses, etc? I tried to have something written in our contract that if our venue were to burn to the ground, we would get a refund, but the manager was just like, "Well we would just try and find you a later date." Oh yeah, because you'll be able to rebuild the whole place in a matter of months??

I really went back and forth about this for myself, and didn't end up getting it.  Nothing went wrong, but I'm sure that if something had I would have been kicking myself for not having it.  If it's really only $2-300 and you can spare the money, then go for it.  It certainly can't hurt!

We did it for peace of mind especially since the relative cost of it was cheap in comparison to the what you might lose.  It all depends on the level of insurance but mine did cover everything and anything, including dresses/tuxes/my mothers dress/etc.

DON'T USE R.V. NUCCIO!  We tried R.V. Nuccio's policy which looked to be the most complete, unless you need it. We bought a full wedding insurance policy for our wedding to coverage every liability and damage option RV Nuccio offered. Somewhere during our wedding, our $400 Swarovski crystal toasting flutes got broken. When we submitted a claim, we were told there was no endorsement for property damage for anything that belonged to us, only for property that belonged to someone else. So we got screwed and our stuff isn't covered because it belonged to us. They said it didn't fall under one of their 12 categories. I said I guess they need a 13th category and was told "that's a good point." Too bad it doesn't do me any good and we spent $600 for insurance that won't cover property damage for our own stuff.  I would stick with Wedsafe, you can't customize each coverage level, but at least they'll be there when you need them.
