Wedding Consultants

I'm still trying to figure all this out.  I don't know much about weddings, have not been to many, don't know etiquette, etc.  I don't really even know where or how to go about finding good venders.  I have read a few vender reviews on this board and it has been helpful, but I'm sure there are many more out there too and I don't know how to tell if they are good or not.  I thought about hiring a wedding consultant to help me with the planning and picking venders.Do you girls have any thoughts on wedding consultants (good or bad)?  When do you know it is right to get one or not?  Can anyone recommend one?any feedback in any form would be very helpful. Thanks!

I'm going to be booking with Allison of Glass Slipper Occasions. Check her site out. She's great to work with and she's really resourceful when it comes to vendors. Her website is: gsoweddings dot com. She's changed up her packages but for the better! GL!

I couldn't even tell you what a wedding consultant does! lol Needless to say, I didn't have one.  I wanted to be in control of choosing things and have total say so (I'm really not a control freak I promise!)....not to say you don't get that with a consultant, again--I don't really know what their purpose is.  I figured I could handle it on my own though, and I did.  I was like you--didn't really know what I was doing or how to do it, but I did it!  I've been to several weddings, but even that doesn't really show you how to plan one.  One thing that helped me was that our chapel provided a lot of things so we didn't need a ton of vendors, and they were able to recommend vendors to us that we did need.I started with the venue, then we picked a date from what they had available, then photographer, baker/cake, dresses...and kept going from there.  I can't really say when/if it's right to get a consultant, but I personally didn't/don't see a reason for one.PS--no offense to anyone using one, just my opinion on a something I don't know a lot about :o)

I also used Alison Anderson (glass slipper occassions)- highly recommend her.  If you aren't sure what you want and or need as far as assistance just book a consultation with her and she will give you a lot of helpful information! She is one of the best decisions I made as far as vendors go!
