Proper timeline for Friday wedding?

We have come up with a timeline, thought I would run it by here and see if there is anything we forgot, did not think of, are just stupid about, etc. It feels so rushed, I knew it would be a lil rushed when I moved the ceremony time from 4pm to 7pm.....we are doing all our pictures before the ceremony7-7:20 ceremony7:20 - 7:40 break, people smoke, go to bathroom, make their way to the hall room (same venue). We take a few moments alone and make our way to the hall to start the receiving line.7:40 - 8:10 receiving line (85 guests)8:10-8:20 Introduce bridal party , 4 girls, 4 guys & us8:20 champagne toast & blessing8:30- 8:45 salad starts coming out, a speech by MOH9:00 or 9:15 dinner starts being served, another speech by Best man9:45 desert starts being served, our speech10:00 father/daughter dance, 1st dance10:15 dancefloor opens up11:30 garter and bouquet toss & late night snacks being served.

  • Dinner is being served a little late, is that customary for Friday weddings? Other than that, I think you are ok.
  • second what alix said. Aside from that, you're giving them a "break" and then you're going to get them all back together to do a receiving line? I think not. Also, if it takes 10 minutes to introduce you and your bridal party, I'm michael jackson.

  • I don't think that you will be thinking aobut time. Its your wedding for crying out loud, its not a middle school band concert.
  • holy post whore? I have questions today, I dont normally post alot, fukkkk relax!Dinner is a bit late thats right, but I dont see a way to get it any earlier, suggestions are welcome though if you have any ideasto introduce 8 people and the B & G, I dont see it will take that long. Its all one song, get introduced, just walk in and sit down is all they are doing.
  • no of course I wont be thinking of time. no way. It will be fine if dinner gets served at 12 I guess.
  • No, I mean it should take like...2 minutes to do introductions.

  • why cant you do pictures after the ceromony? You moved everything up, but why use the picture interlude for your guests? I thought that picture time was = to cocktail hour.
  • Thanks for the clarification fische. I gave it 10 mins just incase.we decided to do our pics before the ceremony, once we had moved the wedding to 7pm. We wont have any light to take pics after 7:30 outside and I didnt want to do a cocktail hour, thats why we decided to go from ceremony, right into dinner reception, so we can begin to eat as soon as possible. That way we get married, go right into the party, nobody waits for us, we are involved in everything.but now I tell ya Im just pissed a bit that we switched the time. I was trying to be more accomodating to the guests by giving them extra time to show up on a friday in rushhour. Every damn person in my family said it was too late for dinner :(
  • I don't think it's too late and would appreciate the ceremony being as late as possible on a Friday.  As a pp said, the break before the receiving line is weird, you should do it right away.
  • Why no cocktail hour??  Cocktail hour is my favorite part of a wedding. My suggestion...skip the "break" and the "receiving line" and go right into introductions.  Your guests are going to be HUNGRY!
