If you are getting married at The Tides come in

What hotel are you planning to reccoment to out of town guests? Are you blocking rooms, using a shuttle service, etc? I am trying to call the hotels that the tides recommended but having trouble getting in touch with anyone. THanks

Our reception was at The Tides and we blocked off rooms at Hampton Inn and Suites in Fairfield. MH and I got a free room for setting up the room block, and they offered a free shuttle service for our guests to and from The Tides.

while we are on the topic how far in advance should you set up a room block?  If we know we want to use the Hampton Inn but our wedding is not until next July?

I would set it up as soon as you know you want to use the hotel.   If you are using the Hampton Inn that is a very popular hotel to use in the area.  The weekend of our wedding, there were several other weddings and the place was booked solid.  Since you are getting married in the summer, I would do it as early as possible to ensure you can get enough rooms of your choice.

I would also suggest overestimating how many rooms you might need.   We didn't do this and I got worried towards the end that we wouldn't have enough rooms because extra local people decided to stay at the hotel and they didn't have any extra rooms available because the hotel was booked.   I had added a few more than we thought we would need in the first place so it all worked out but had a lot more people decided to stay it would not have worked.

We just all ate at the Free continental breakfast that is served in the lobby the next morning.    There was plenty of a selection and it saved money!
