MY WEDDING DAY IS GOING TO HAVE A SAINT!!!!

My FI and I were kind of sad when we were picking our wedding day for this upcoming fall, since none of the days that we wanted really had an official Saint attached, and we really wanted a patron Saint.
But it has just been announced that... (even though he's not quite a Saint yet,) OCTOBER 22 WILL BE THE FEAST DAY FOR JOHN PAUL II!!!!!!!!!!!

The man who not only was so wonderful in so many ways, but who forumlated TOB!!!
oh my goodness, I couldn't be happier! what a blessing! I don't even care anymore if it rains on Oct. 22!!!

Oooo, I like my wedding day saint!  She was an empowered Italian, just like me Cool.

Saint Catherine of Siena T.O.S.D (25 March 1347 in Siena – 29 April 1380 in Rome) was a tertiary of the Dominican Order, and a Scholastic philosopher and theologian. She also worked to bring the papacy of Gregory XI back to Rome from its displacement in France, and to establish peace among the Italian city-states. She was proclaimed a Doctor of the Church in 1970. She is one of the two patron saints of Italy, together with Francis of Assisi.

mine was a bishop and martyr.

The Story and History of Saint Severianus
The story and history of Saint Severianus. In the reign of Marcian and St. Pulcheria, the Council of Chalcedon, which condemned the Eutychian heresy, was received by St. Euthymius and by a great part of the monks of Palestine. But Theodosius, an ignorant Eutychian monk, and a man of a most tyrannical temper, under the protection of the Empress Eudoxia, widow of Theodosius the Younger, who lived at Jerusalem, perverted many among the monks themselves, and having obliged Juvenal, Bishop of Jerusalem, to withdraw, unjustly possessed himself of that important see, and, in a cruel persecution which he raised, filled Jerusalem with blood; then, at the head of a band of soldiers, he carried desolation over the country. Many, however, had the courage to stand their ground. No one resisted him with, greater zeal and resolution than Severianus, Bishop of Scythopolis, and his recompense was the crown of martyrdom; for the furious soldiers seized his person, dragged him out of the city, and massacred him, in the latter part of the year 452 or in the beginning of the year 453.

Woohoo! Congrats! That's so cool. We were looking around late July-Mid August and then we saw our date was the Solemnity of the Transfiguration and we were like, heck ya!

    That is wonderful!!

Our wedding day saint is Germaine of Paris, a bishop during 5th and 6th centuries, and several other French martyrs... sadly, neither my fiance nor I have a French bone in our bodies!  We do get to share the day and church with our Archdiocesan ordinations, though!

That is SO awesome...and what a cool link to look up the patron saint for our day. It's Teresa of Avila...and it's so perfect. I need to ask for her intercessio now, in fact, since I have a raging headache, LOL.

    Cool thread!

That is soooo cool!  I love him!  I'm glad I saw your post because Oct 22 is special to me too- it's my son's birthday!  He'll be excited to hear that his birthday has a modern saint!
