Hi everyone. I have been researching and visiting places in the northern va area (Crystal City, Old Town, Rosslyn, Ballston, Fairfax, Chantilly), and was happy to find there are some very nice places to do your wedding on a budget--and I thought I'd share! I know the thought of paying for my own wedding really overwhelmed me to the point of tears, but once I sat down and started to really talk to places, I felt better. If you're looking to be married in Northern, VA, there are lots of hotels and venues willing to work with you in their off months. These months are January, February and July and August. The weekend of July 4th next year is not a very popular time either and something to think of (the 4th is on a Sunday, so you could do Saturday night July 3). The other good thing about off months is that Saturday nights at some places are the same price as doing a wedding on a Friday or Sunday. Some places will tell you NO, but others will tell you YES! So don't be discouraged...keep calling!! Also--don't go with what they send you. Tell them you need to customize in order to get it in your budget. I will be doing my entire wedding next July on a saturday evening for $65 per person including taxes/gratuities (31%) and this includes three hours of beer and wine, dinner, cake cutting, cocktail hour. We'll pay the other alcohol through a consumption bar. If you're a newly engaged couple and feeling stressed, feel free to contact me and I can share my research.
