How charming!

Is anyone doing a charm cake for their wedding cake or bridesmaids' luncheon? I hadn't heard of it until this year, but love the idea!  If you've never heard of it, read about it here: http://www.jewelrybyrhonda.com/webpages/cakecharmsmainpage.htm Anyway, I wonder more about it's history?  It says it's from the "Victorian era" but, it also seems to be very popular in the southern states.  Was it born in the south during the Victorian era?  Does anyone know? Either way, I love it!

I was in a friends wedding years ago and she had a charm cake at the bridesmaid luncheon, it was cute.  Her family is from the south originally, so perhaps in her family it was tradition?  I have no idea what charm I got, or where it is now, but at the time I found it sweet and thoughtful - she had make the cake herself and it was a nice touch.
