Bummed :( Maybe no wedding...

FI and I got some news last night that may mean the end of our dream wedding.  :(  We won't know for several weeks (or months!) but in the mean time it more or less means and end to all planning (or at least SPENDING).  We gave ourselves a long engagement precisely so we would have a lot of time to plan every detail, and with less than a year to go, the timing is bad.Just kind of bummed today. 
Yay! Finally able to update my signature :)

    Thanks, everyone!!!!  I appreciate all of the kind words!!! We are both okay (fortunately), but FI's family is having a family emergency that *might* eat up all of our savings AND leave us cash poor for the next 6-8 months.  It's the kind of thing that we have to do what's best for the family, it just stinks for us that the results of helping everyone else out might mean giving up our dream wedding.  We probably won't really know the outcome of everything and how much extra money we can come up with for a couple months, which puts a hold on everything.  We both feel bummed bc although we know in the end that helping family is more important than a fancy wedding, we have already planned so many things and were doing really well with everything so the timing is just a shock to us.On the plus side, I really felt honored last night when FI's parents invited me to be part of the family conversation.  FI's dad was like, "You are already part of the family, and since this will effect you, you should be included in this conversation."  :)I won't be disappearing from the knot though.  I will just have to plan vicariously through all of you girls!

    Grace under pressure. You're amazing! Honestly, if there is ANYTHING you need help with PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let us know!I can get you flowers at cost and design them :) I was a florist for 8 years!!!

    I am so sorry that your FI's family is going through a hard time and that you might not have a wedding anymore. :(  I am very touched, too, that they included you as part of the family already before the wedding. (That almost made my eyes tear up.)  I hope everything turns out ok and like everyone else said, your are handling this really well and I really admire that.

    Thanks--you girls are the best!  I know that in the end everything will work out (whether it means changing our plans or not), so we just have to get through a couple of (potentially rough) months.  In some ways it's good bc it will be a GREAT test for FI and I (not that I think we are anything less than perfect for each other now ;) )--by the time we make it to our wedding date we will be ready to face any challenge.I know too that if our budget gets cut you girls will provide all the necessary tips for us to plan a budget-friendly, yet still elegant wedding!  I <3 the Boston Knotties!!!

    I am so sorry for everything that you guys are going through right now, you both have an amazing attitude and spirit and that is a genuine quality, and your families are lucky to have a son and daughter like you both. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your Fi's family and I'm sure whatever happens in the end you and your FI will live happily ever after.

    I'm sorry :( Fi and I went through a very difficult time with his family that put our engagement and wedding off for a lot longer than I would have liked but now we are back on track and I'm sure you will be soon too! You sound like you have a great head on your shoulders and a huge heart.

    I have to agree with all of the PPs.  If I were in your shoes I think I would be a lot less positive and gracious than you are.You have really made me think and put things in perspective.  Best wishes to you and your new family!

    I'm so sorry to hear about FI's families troubles. I'm hoping you and FI will be able to work something out where you can still have the wedding of your dreams, maybe on a smaller scale or with other areas cut. I agree with pp, you are handling this beautifully, and please let us know what we can do to help!
