Floral Quotes :(

So I went to Parrish, Petunia & Avant Gardens and they all came back alot more than what I expected. Avant's seemed to be the most I could work with and the most reasonable.  Mind you, I have very little florals at my reception. The most shocking was that Petunia was by far the highest, as we expected them to come in the lowest.  Over 10K!!! Plus, I felt that Eduardo was totally getting my ideas in our meeting, but in the proposal, it was completely off. I specifically stated, no orchids and a black ribbon and he put orchids in all the boquets and a red ribbon.  Very disappointed.  I'm hoping I can work something out with Avant as I really clicked with Rick, but I'm really bummed right now.

have you visited with Gil Sosa or Jorge Nevot?

I noticed that Eduardo likes to put his own twist on things in the proposals... not exactly as discussed at least it wasn't for me.Rick will work with you. Just tell him what you can spend and let him know you are trying to stay around x amount and I think he'll see what he can do.I loved Rick. Had I not found Guerdy I would have booked with him!

I got quotes from Terra Flowers and Flowers by Luenzo, they seemed to be fairly budget friendly.

PS - I think dalsimer is on the biltmore list- they might be less. I know my quote is wayyyyy less than $10K!

Shannon, even more similarities!! (see my response to your post about your bio, if you haven't already) :-) We were in the same boat. We are doing very little florals because our reception is outside and the area is already beautiful with what is there. We are also paying for everything ourselves, so staying on budget is key but we want things to look beautiful. We both wanted really vibrant florals and in the end chose Avante Gardens. I thought compared to other Miami florists, they were reasonable and had very creative ideas. They also listened to us and made helpful and informed suggestions. I am really excited about what they are creating for us. I feel that our floral budget is probably a lot less than other SF Knotties, but I tried to keep in mind the uniqueness of our venue (Red Fish Grill) and spending only on what we really wanted, and vibrant color was very important to us. GL and let us know what you decide!

I loved Eduardo but also got a proposal that was way off base.  Kind of disappointing b/c I felt like we really clicked.  Sorry you're having a hard time, but I'm sure you'll find someone to work within your budget.

Thanks everyone. Unfortunately Gil and Nevot are out because of the strictness of the Biltmore and their vendor list.  I think Avant is workable and I just sent Rick a revision and we'll see where we end up. Personally, I clicked with Rick, so at least they were the lowest (surprisingly). He was very honest and didn't BS, so I feel I can be the same. I just don't want to cut anything else, because then it will be bare. As for Dalsimer, I'm going to contact them next.  I had put it off because their office is so far away and it's hard for me to get up there. But I'm hoping I can possibly do an initial consultation on the phone, since I now know what I want.

Sorry that you are having a hard time with florals. Knottie vibes it works out. I am meeting with Petunia when I come to Miami, I hope he doesn't blow me out the water.lol

Tell me about it. All the florists are almost double what I had budgeted for the Biltmore. My estimates are similar to those on the board who have 150 guests!! And I only have 50 people. I did Dalsimer, Petal Production, and Avant. Haven't gotten Avant back yet, but Dalsimer is almost reasonably priced. Petal production wants to charge $175 for a isle runner?! That annoyed me, and for that fact alone not gonna go with them. So for me, its Dalsimer or Avant. P.S. After my consult with Dalsimer, he gave me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers to take home...huge bonus for a visit:)
