Why do people assume...

that you know they're going to the wedding???

I'm running into this a lot more than I would like. People are telling our moms that they've booked and are finding outfits and such. I have to keep reminding my mom to remind these people (especially family) that if they don't RSVP via the website or send the card back then they're not on the list and are not counted...

    LOL... I'm so sorry....

I've encountered this but in a different way... These people were NOT invited and are telling me what outfits they are buying etc.

I'm such a push-over I've just been adding them to the guest list. I'd rather not have that awkward "you're not invited" conversation.....

LOL... now that you mention it, I'm gonna LOVE rsvp time....

LOL...yes, especially distant family members...like ummmmm just because you and my mother gossip once every three months, I haven't seen you since the family reunion in South Carolina since I was TEN...so, maybe you'll get an announcement? And Panda I can't imagine your situation b/c you're going to be OUT of the country! People are off the hook these days!

IMHO they assume (at least in da ka-munity) because to them, RSVPing is not necessary 'cause you're fam. Nobody ever RSVPed for the cookout at the Uncle's, or for dinner at big mommas.
We just showed up. I'll argue that back in the day when our ancestors got married, folks just showed up, and carried the informal tradition over to generations.

I would be surprised to see anyone under the age of 40 "assuming" today. And now you're supposed to be the bad person because you can't let them eat at the reception. SMDH.

I'm sure other cultures experience assuming guests, but it is prevalent in ours. I even had a "FB friend" scream on me because she didn't know about my engagement! Wow.
