What would you do

Okay so I live in NC but we are getting married in San Antonio where my mom live. Anyway I was going to ship it to my mom after my fitting on the 5th of September. But a lady at work just told me a story about how her b-day presant got lost by Fed-Ex and they never found it. What would you carry it on the plane or send it Fed-Ex

I guess you are talking about your dress?  I would personally take it with me on the plane.  The probability of Fedex loosing it is extremely low, but I'd feel better if I had it with me.

If it makes you feel any better about shipping it, Vera Wang in NYC uses Fed Ex to ship their dresses to brides getting married out of town.

Can you get the package insured? If so and it wasn't too much extra money I would do that. If not I would probably take it on the plane. We are in the same dilemma. We live in NC and the wedding is in Boston where we are both from. I think I may fly up with our son a week out from the wedding and have Fi drive up with the dress and other things I might have for the wedding a few days out. We'll see how that plan works it's a 12 hour drive with no stops...

It probably wouldn't cost much to insure the package through fed ex. Also, you may want to check with your wedding insurance vendor (if you're getting it - I only bought it because I was getting married during hurricane season) and see if something like that is covered. If it is covered, that might be a reason to buy the wedding insurance.

I would hand carry it on the plane.  I wouldn't check it or ship it.  Things get lost all the time and that would majorly suck if your wedding dress got lost mere days before the wedding.

Carry it with you on the plane! Even it's insured & they lose it or it's on the plane that bursts into flames, you still have to find a new dress just days before your wedding.Save yourself the stress & carry it on the plane in a garment bag. My friend got married in Jamaica & carried her dress onto the plane. The flight attendant offered to hang it in the first class coat closet :) You know that if you ship it, you'll stress over it until it arrives.

I would def. carry it on the plane with me. I would just be paraniod to have it fed-exed to me...but that is just me. I would feel much better knowing that it is on the same plane with me.

carry it on the plane....i wouldnt part with it, just too much of a risk even if you do insure it you still take a chance in it getting lost or damamged.

If you do decide to carry it on the plane you should verify with the airline what sort of plane you will be flying (which of course is subject to change at any time) because not all planes have a first class cabin with a coat closet and not all planes have a coat closet period. Depends on the airline and size of the plane. In which case you would have to put your dress in the overhead compartment and it could get really smooshed up there with everyone's carry on's since everything brings a carry on these days since they charge you to check. Just something to consider.

I would carry it on if possible.  Just for the ease of mind most of all...
