WDYT if there were active posters here?

Planning for a wedding 2 1/2 years out?  Anyone have an engagement that long?

Re: WDYT if there were active posters here?

  • Yeah, ours was seven months and I hated wedding planning so much I let my sister do most of it.  I don't know how I could have possibly strung planning out for 2 1/2 years.  I might have shot myself.

Why did you wait so long?

  • We were 18 months almost exactly.  I can't imagine going another year after that.

I think I might actually have turned into Martha Stewart if I didn't have the actual wedding to break the fancy paper and glassware trance.
  • I did.  ish.  2 years.

DH was still in school.  We wanted to wait until he had graduated and was gainfully employed.
  • Same as CDL.

We were both still in school.
  • 16m. Can't remember why, believe it or not. Then again, I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday.
  • our engagement was 14 months.  That was long enough.  I would assume that people who have super long engagements don't immediately start planning, though?

Mine was closer to 2 1/2 months.  We'd tried to plan for 5, but the AF had other plans.

  • I actally had everything planned about 8 months after the engagment with almost 2 years to go.
The only big downfall was something like 4 new seasons of dresses came out.  The dress I picked at the time was a new style.  By the time I got married 2 years later, every other fucking bebe bride had the same dress and it seemed like I was just following the trend.

Where you on wedding websites actively planning?

Nonsnarky question, I swear. To me, I can understand setting a date and if you live in a highly competitive area and want one of the competitive spots, reserving your space and such.

But I can't see why you would be reading about place settings and hair styles.

  • I joined the knot shortly after but I had the major stuff done fairly soon.  I think I wasted a year on the boards and not actaully planning
  • We were engaged for 22 months, but I wasn't on the knot that whole time.  We took our time looking at reception locations.  We booked that 14 months out and then started doing everything else.  We were very laid back about our planning.

I actually only started posting on the knot 7 months before my wedding.  And really, that was because I was studying for the bar.  It was great procrastination.
