(Re)intro and question

I've been lurking on and off for over three years (looong engagement). Now that we're at less than a year out, I thought I'd poke my head back in and say HI to all you Norcal knotties - such a friendly and helpful bunch! So far I've booked the following vendors:Jennifer Skog PhotographyMaria Chang - Professional Makeup ArtistryLawrence Hall of Science (Berkeley) - ceremony venueI can't believe we're finally signing contracts - time passes so quickly. Also, I'm still looking for a good place for a Chinese banquet (close to Berkeley). Suggestions are appreciated!Oh yeah, my name's Felicia, raised in Fremont and a proud Cal grad. :)

Congrats! We have a membership to the Lawrence Hall of Science and just went on Sunday! While my son played outside I was standing with my FI on the edge of the hill thinking "What a great place for wedding pics!" Glad to hear someone is actually making use of that awesome view! When is your date?

The only place I know of in Berkley is the Brazilian Room. Congratulations and welcome to the board.

Thanks ladies!Yea, we were originally set on having our wedding at Tilden Park and scoped out picnic grounds. After narrowing our choices down, we thought we should check out LHS "just in case...though it'd have to be beyond awesome to beat out Tilden."...It was. The view is to die for!

I haven't checked these message boards in the longest time and when I do I spot your post! I had my ceremony at the Lawrence Hall of Science a little over a year ago. (We're also both Cal grads!) We followed up with a Chinese banquet at East Ocean in Emeryville. The food is pretty good there and the bay views are awesome. There are a number of restaurants in Oakland Chinatown if you don't want to cross the bridge over to SF. Peony, Legendary Palace and Silver Dragon are the only ones that I know of with a large enough space to hold a wedding reception. We looked at those places but settled on East Ocean for the view, free parking and convenience. Since we had guests coming in from all directions of the Bay Area it was nice to have the reception in a central location to everyone. We also live in Emeryville so the drive home after the reception was very easy. :) Hope that helps some. Good luck!

jcherb, thanks for the recommendations! We tried East Ocean for the first time a week ago and thought the food was excellent. We're hoping to set up a meeting with the manager soon.
