Changing your name

Did you take your H's last name when you got married, or will you?
Why or why not?

It's never really been a question for me, I'm definitely taking Michael's last name. I actually don't know (IRL) many women who don't. Several hyphenate their last name with new last name, but not many that just keep their last name. I've seen a lot of people mention on here that they didn't or won't, and if you don't mind me asking, I'm curious as to why? I've also seen people mention that they don't like to be addressed as Mr & Mrs Hislastname, and I'm kind of curious why that is too?

    I am hyphenating my name. For many reasons, I do not want to be Mrs. Hislast name, and we are going to tell our minister NOT to say "I now introduce Mr. and Mrs. Hislastname. I do not feel like I am joining his family, nor is he joining mine, we are creating our own family. Also, my last name is very important to me and I don't want to lose it. I've considered even just keeping my maiden name altogether but I want some kind of way (other than the rings) to say to the world "Hey, we are married now!" Also, if/when we have a kid, I want to at least have H's name as part of my last name.

    That's such a great idea!! I will talk to my FI about doing this! Did he have to change anything as far as paperwork goes?
