When did everyone book photographers and d.j.'s?

I'm still a year and 5 weeks away so I've got lots time.  Since I've booked our ceremony and reception sites, just wondering when everyone else started booking thier photgraphers and d.j.s?Thx!

Now's probably a good time to start looking.  It's not uncommon for photographers to start booking up a year in advance. At least starting early will give you more options, you might be able to find someone who's style you really like that costs a bit less if you start early!

Photographer was the third thing we booked after venue and church, and we were about 10 months out.  I would maybe do some preliminary research, ask around, and then seriously start interviewing them around October/November.

We actually just booked our photographer today! I'm really excited about him! Tomorrow, I begin the hunt for a DJ! I'm hoping it goes as smoothly as the photographer!

We just booked our photographers last week with about 10 months to go. Started looking into this about a year out and was surprised that a few had already been taken! So yes, while time is on your side it's probably a good idea to begin looking to ensure you get the people you want for the prices that work for you:)

If you already have the date and venue set, it's not a bad idea to start looking now. It's still a bit early, but a lot of photographers will book up after the fall wedding shows in September. I booked mine about 10 months in advance. Not so sure about the timeline for DJs. I booked mine about 10 months in advance also, at a wedding show, because he was offering a discount for booking on the spot.

We booked our photographer 18 months out! With the church and reception site booked, it seemed like the next most important thing. I was surprised that a few we talked to were already booked at that point. I doubt you really have to book this far in advance, but I just like to be really on top of things. Plus - I had champagne taste and a beer budget, so I wanted to get the best beer photographer possible :) Our DJ was the next thing I panicked about, and we secured him about 17.5 months in advance. Of course, I am still 1 year and 2 weeks away, and I also have our florist and hair salon booked, and I ordered my dress... I do realize that I have a problem.

Thanks for all the advice Ladies, very helpful!  I'm the first of my girlfriends and sisters to get married so not sure when to get all these things done.Chihuahua, I too have a problem - I'm on the knot all the time these days.  Fiance keeps asking me how I'll survive once we're married?  He doesn't know about the Nest yet... haha

We booked the venue, photographer and DJ over a year.   We actually had a hard time finding a DJ what wasn't already booked for our date.    Venue was first and that was booked within 5 days of being engaged (we knew where we wanted and knew we wanted this year), and then the Photographer the next week and the DJ almost 1 year to the date before the actual wedding.   Those are the 3 things that book up quickly so in my opinion the sooner you book them the better!   The rest is easy in comparison.
