Mariella's

I know a lot of you got your gowns at Mariella's...I've heard they are rather expensive though - just wondering if you all found that to be true? I am looking to spend less than $1,000 on the dress so not sure if I should bother making an appt. there...

Go there! My dress cost $1150 but my 2nd choice was only $850!  If you go in telling them your budget, there are definitely dresses in that range.  They are great there!

When I first went in, I gave the girl a firm budget and as we were looking through the dresses in the closet, if i liked one that was over my budget, she would tell me right away and we would pass it up.

Mine was a little over $1,000 - but I tell you, their service is incredible. They are SO organized and they have great offers for the bridesmaid dresses and tuxes, and Mother dresses (which helps!)....I love that what they offer will make me stress less, I feel so much more comfortable knowing how much they have it together.

I disagree 100% and will NEVER give them even a cent of mine. I went there looking for bridesmaids dresses and took about 15 into the dressing room. Not ONCE did anyone check on us. Instead they spent ALL of their time with the bridal party next to me. They  literally walked by us to get to their staff room without asking how we were doing etc. I assumed this was b/c we HAD to bring my 4 month old nephew with us and this was their way of saying they didn't want children involved. Yet - when we walked out there was a 3 year old girl running rampid through the store and making a mess of handprints and breathing all over the glass door. I would NEVER reccomend this place!

im a half and half recommendation. i got my dress from there. i wanted to spend no more than $1500, which of four walls of closets, i had less than 1 tcloset o pick from, my dress ended up being $1050, and the only reason i bought from there was cause this was a dress i had seen online ahread of time and had gone out looking for, otherwise, i might have ended up somewhere else. i didnt try only any dresses below $1000. the saleslady was nice, but she def kept doing the "oh, let me grab this one thats a similar style to the stuff youre liking" sort of this, some of the dresses she brought in were over $3000. apparently she thinks im a dumb turkey whos just gonna blow my budget for no reason. also, was told 4-6 months for my dress, alot of hounding got it there in 7.5 months. BM dresses i wouldnt bother, they were useless. they dont carry some of the big brands like alfredo angelo, and the salesladies were less than helpful. also, their prices include alterations, and they refused to discount the dresses at all since alterations were going to be done elsewhere, as none of my BMs live close enough for that to be a logical choice(like they dont even live in CT). they also didnt want to give a discount for multiple girls. i ended up getting BM dresses at dynamite designs in wallingford, who gave a 10% discount since i had 4 girls, and their prices were lower since they didnt include alterations. so, eh, not sure what to tell you. i know they are supposed to be amazing, but i just dont think they were everything they could have been. PS- wherever you go, lie about your wedding date by a good few weeks! that way, they feel more pressure to get your dress there, and you get it earlier in case there is any screwup(it does happen, i have a friend who had the wrong dress ordered, and the bridal shop in farmington didnt even want to give her her money back!)

I went in there with a firm budget of $1,000, but was willing to spend a bit more than that (I just didn't tell them!) I ended up picking dresses off the rack that were in the $1100-1200 range. The consultant didn't show me (or at least didn't point out) dresses closer to $1000. When all was said and done, it cost $1500 total after alterations.

Oh, and my overall experience there was pretty good. They were quick with my alterations when I only had 3 weeks between the time the dress came in and wedding day (I ordered the dress 5 months before the wedding.) The 2 seamstresses I worked with were really nice. My 2 MOHs got their dresses there as well and I wasn't 100% thrilled with how alterations were done. I felt that the hem was messy and there were 2 spots on the bust of my MOHs dress (1 was pen, the other I think was blood.) After picking up her dress, I had to take it back to the store and ask them to remove the stains. They did what they could but the pen stain wouldn't come out. Because I had already purchased it, they couldn't give me a discount. The reason I hadn't seen it in the store was because I paid for it before the other woman brought it downstairs and the spots were more visible outside. Overall, the staff was nice but I found myself standing at the front desk a lot waiting for someone to assist me. I am a patient person, so this didn't bother me too much.
