Makeup

Does anyone have info on where i can look for a make up artist. I don't wan to pay too much and someone local in the oc area. My soon to be mr. said i should just go to a makeup counter i don't know about that. I don't really wear make up and i want to keep it natural

There are a few of use on this board who are using Katie Vollmer from Beauty and the Beach.  She does a really good job with natural looking makeup and she has good reviews on Project Wedding.  I have her contact info at the end of my bio.

My mother in law owns a Merle Normal make up studio and she does amazing work. Her studio is in Chino but she is mobile and has great prices.

molina weddings...affordability is relevant to the spender. no need for that type of comment. let ppl make their own decisions. i was simply making a suggestion. it was my wedding day, and i wanted to look the best i could. i didn't want to spare that expense. she also did my makeup for my boudoir pix and our engagment pix. i was happy with all 3 looks, and she was able to accomplish each look flawlessly with little direction from me. liz was great to work with. i was going to go with a cheaper makeup artist, but after following her work, i didn't think i was going to be happy at all..so i decided to go with someone else i could trust.

I loved working with Andrea at Something Blue Stylists.  Her info is up on somethingbluestylists.com - there's a pricing list up there, and I thought it was pretty competitive with other folks that I looked into.  I had some friends suggest a makeup counter - I thought about seeing if any of the consultants at a counter would freelance or could schedule an appointment for the day-of.  That might be one option if you're under budget constraints.  I just didn't have time to investigate the various counters.

My soon-to-be sister-in-law is a make-up artist who works for Prescriptives, but does weddings as well: Andi Eve Summer Make-up. She won't be doing mine b/c she's in the bridal party and I'm making her TAKE A DAY OFF!! haha The lady I am using for my wedding is Nikki at Beauty and The Beach, but they have 3 ladies and we'll be using all of 'em :) I also looked at Cheek Couture as well. HTH!

It was just an opinion no need to get so up set. We all have them and are all allowed to voice them on since we are all soon to be brides.

I used Moira Taylor for my engagement pics and her rates were really reasonable (and i've shopped around a bit). You should check her out too :)

I don't wear much make up either and even the make up counters made me up with too heavy a hand for me to feel like myself. Eventually I just had my sister apply my make up and it was exactly what I wanted. If you know someone who would be willing to do your make up and experiment with you, you may find something you like better for just the cost of the make up.

I contacted Katie Vollmer but she is booked for that day she suggest partners Niki and Heather has anyone worked with them I sent them both an email last week and no one returned my email. Niki Marshall won't even let you put a subject line it pre populates on its own. Should i send them another email or just rule them out.

marcv004- Definately try them again.  Artists don't work at the computer all day like I/we do and can often take a day or two to get back to you.  Contacting them again lets them know you are really interested.
