Early gift etiquette...

We got our first gift today!! Pretty exciting.A Cuisinart mixer...What is the etiquette when receiving a gift before the wedding? Or wedding day is Oct 3rd. Do we send a thank you now?? Or right after the wedding?(I'm also posting this on the etiquette board) Thanks LADIES! Almost a month away! Holy Moly!!

    I would send a thank you card now to acknowledge the gift.

    Send a card now to thank them for the gift, and after the wedding to thank them for attending.

    We sent one when we received the gift and then we're sending them out again thanking people for coming to the wedding.  You at least want to make sure the sender knows you received it or they might it got lost in the mail or something!
