DJ issues- need better recs

im looking for more DJ recs. i tried to go with one, but im having issues with him. (reason below). i met with a DJ yesterday (name is omitted to protect the guilty) and im not sure if he's trying to scam me or what. when we met, i had asked him to draw up a contract that i could sign at the meeting since we were both traveling for the meeting. at the meeting, he said he didnt have the contract, but still asked me to write him the deposit check. yeah, um, no way. i wanted to pay via paypal anyway. he said he'd email me the paypal request and the contract the next morning.this morning i get the paypal request (and the contract a few hours later) which is a few hundred more than we had talked about literally 12 hours before. the package is more $ and the extra hourly rate seems to have jumped- or he's trying to tack on an extra hour even though the contract times only leave room for one extra hour.anyway, im just not happy with this guy, even if it was an honest mistake. if you made it this far, congrats. :)so please, help me find an honest dj.

DJ Mark Angelo is awesome. He has done a bunch of weddings and occasionally spins at Finn McCools and other local bars. Email me at christineandtony2010@gmail.com if you want his contact info.

the next few djs i looked at were around the $1200 mark. it's about twice as much as i wanted to spend, but in this case, i think you really "get what you pay for." so hopefully around $1200 for 5 hours. does that seem reasonable or do i need a reality check?

Need to know your budget...We are using Big Fun DJ out of the South Bay - they have excellent reviews on Yelp and Project Wedding and they work all over the Bay Area. We also seriously considered Fog City Entertainment out of South San Francisco, which another knottie recommended to me. They also work all over the Bay Area. We decided to go with Big Fun DJ because they have experience working at our venue.

Chris Mowry of Denon & Doyle (Djay.com) was ours and I can't say enough about him and the company. I read every review I could find on DJs and thats how I chose denon & Doyle. Amazing!

I'm pretty sure I am going with Monkey Music Productions. They are doing a package for me of a guitarist for the ceremony and a DJ for the reception for 5 hours for $1200. They are located in the SF bay area.

We are also going with Big Fun, using Henry Kim. We got a really got recommendation, and I remember their parties from Stanford when I was an undergrad there. Plus, they don't require a deposit!! good luck...
