Any advice?

Hi Ladies! this one is a bit randon..... I've been trying to find a way to earn extra money for our wedding/honeymoon fund. I'm thinking of becoming a Tastefully Simple consultant, has anyone ever done this or been to a party? Thanks girls, if I decide to do this and you want to have a party to help me out that would be awesome! But first I have to decide if its worth it.....

    I've never done it or been to a party but I have heard about it and it sounds fun!  It actually sounds like a cool GTG idea!  I feel like you should organize one then if your willing to travel to the Youngstown area I will have one for my family and friends!

    Don't you have to invest money initially? Then you actually have to find people to buy the stuff.Why not just pick up a 2nd part time job? Maybe waitressing or working retail. Babysit on the weekends. Have a garage sale. Sell stuff on craigslist.

    I second Rachel, maybe pick up some hours at a retail store or babysit.  If I needed/wanted to make money I wouldn't do something that depended on people wanting to have a party, I'd do something that was guaranteed hours.

    I love tastefully simple but you dont make much selling it. If you want to sell something fun and cute do Premier Designs jewelry. Great products and you make 50% commision off your parties. So in 2 hours you could have a $400 party and walk away with $200 bucks. Cant beat it! Let me know if you are intersted. I know a jewelry lady that would love to tell you about it. She is awesome.     IMO, those home party companies can be good if you're looking to get a discount on the products as a salesperson, but you can't really make a ton of money. Once you've had one or two 'parties' for friends/family, you'd have to start branching out to get new 'clients'. A friend of mine who LOVES candles got into selling PartyLite to get deals on the candles/holders, then stopped selling once she had what she needed. It wasn't her sole source of income either. She did it on the side (worked in an office during the day). Personally, I avoid home-party sales like the plague.

    My mom was a Premier Jewelry person and she spent most of what she made on new jewelry...it was all very pretty, but you get sucked into the new items and even though you get discounts, people want to see whats new and you pretty much feel like you have to buy the new stuff for peoople to see...I agree with everyone else..pick up a second side job a few days a week...that way you aren't spending what little you are making on your own products just to try and sell more...hth!
