Can we do another challenge?

I noticed there was a challenge at the top of the board. Could we do another one that is like pre-spring?

Re: Can we do another challenge?

  • We sure can Ash!

I'm open to suggestions for something fun or i can come up with something.
  • I would like a new challenge. I know someone started one a few months back but never did anything with it.
    Anniversary
  • What type of challenges have happened in the past?  I never read the one at the top since it was out of date :/
    Daisypath Anniversary tickers
  • I think it would be fun! I'd also be interested in knowing what has been done in the past. I've never done one but I think I would like the accountability.

Last summer we did these 3 and they'd be great to do again:

    http://www.twohundredsitups.com/ (modified to crunches)
    http://hundredpushups.com/index.html
    http://www.twohundredsquats.com/

Workout challenges are fun.  We pick a set # of minutes of planned exercise a week and then everyone tries to hit that goal and shares what they did to reach it.  I learned a lot about new exercises and workout dvds this way. Those with HRMs post how many calories burned.

We've done goal challenges where people pick 3 weekly goals like:
*Exercise 3x per week for at least 40 minutes
*Don't go over my calorie allotment
*Only eat clean foods.  No processed, added sugars, or fried foods.
And then there is a weekly check-in post where everyone posts whether they were 100% on target.  I'm not a big fan of these because i like challenges where everyone is doing the same-ish thing so we can all compare.

We could do a food-recipe challenge where every week you post a new healthy recipe (with all nutritional info) that you've tried this week and think it's worth sharing with everyone.

We could also do a Couch to Run challenge.  5k, 10k, 1/2 marathon, full marathon.. whatever.  That kinda excludes those on the board who can't do repetitive workouts.

Just a few ideas.  Post ideas here and I'll set up a poll for voting on the best ones.  i love a good Challenge.

i stickied this to the top of the board for now so everyone can see it easily.
  • I think a workout challenge would be best, but I agree that something like C25K would be difficult. Personally, I have a foot injury and could not participate in something like that.

I've done the pushup, dips, and crunches from 100 situps before. It was a lot of fun and really challenging. I'd be willing to do it again. I think it would work well for this situation b/c the program works off of your current fitness level and I think we are all at different levels.

Exactly!  I think that's why it was a success the first time.  I actually can still do 200 crunches fairly reliably and do them about once a week with variations like bicycle crunches, side crunches, etc.  So it'd be fairly easy for me to double up and alter the challenge to set a slightly higher goal for myself.

There are even cute pics I found that we can add to our signatures (or I can make new ones) to show that we're participating.

    Welcome to the board!

Keep your eyes open.  i'll definitely post a sticky when we start a new challenge so you'll be able to see it right at the top of this board.
  • This is exciting! I'm so glad we are doing this!
  • I would love to participate also! I've tried the C25k and lost motivation after about 5 weeks. I'm currently trying to lose 20 lbs and I'm kind of stuck. I eat fairly well (everyone splurgs 1 day here and there). I also just started with a personal trainer, but I'd be much happier if I can do this on my own.

  • Awesome Guys!

I'll Make a post tomorrow with how to go about doing the fitness test to determine your start level, and then I'll leave that posted for a week to give everyone time to see it and get on board and get their start test done.
  • Challenge is posted at the top of the board
