Wayzata Country Club?

I had posted a few days ago about possible outdoor sites for my sister.  They aren't officially engaged yet but are scouting out a few ceremony/reception places now since they know that good places book up fast around here.  All signs point to an early/mid spring engagement.  SO, with all that said, their #1 choices are The Woods Chapel in Orono for ceremony and the Wayzata Country Club for reception.

Does anyone have any experience with the Wayzata Country Club?  Info they should know before booking?

Thanks so much!  I'm guessing my sister will eventually be creating an account so maybe you'll see her around in a couple of months.  :-)

Re: Wayzata Country Club?

  • I have only been there as a guest.  It was lovely!
  • One of my friends got married there...it was really pretty.  My best friend got married at Woods of Orono when it was the other owner.  It was really pretty but they did not allow alcohol for the reception (something about a lic.).  I really liked the little cottage we got ready in...so cute and great pictures.

My sister got married at Wayzata Coutry Club and it was really nice (it was 9 years ago now).  They had to have a country club member 'sponsor' them since it was a private course.

DH and I got married at Carlson Towers in Minnetonka and loved it.  They have a beautiful outdoor ceremony site.  Words of advice: If they are planning an outdoor ceremony, do it at a place that has a backup location and that they are ok with that location.  We were to have an outdoor ceremony and it rained ALLLLLL day.  We ended up having our ceremony inside.

She originally was considering the Carlson Towers but has ruled that site out for something a little more natural/rustic.  The Woods in Orono has a chapel they can use if it does rain.  That is something they definitely considered.  :-)

Thanks for all of the replies!  :-)
