Crate & Barrel

I looked at my Crate & Barrel registry today and noticed that a bunch of things (at least 10) are no longer available online and/or out of stock completely.  Nothing is that hard to replace; it seems like they're just coming out with their 2011 version of the same stuff.

But it does have me worried about my casual dinnerware -- what if it goes out of stock before people really start buying it for us (summertime)?  I would say we could just switch it, but my brother and sis-in-law already gave us a couple of sets that we are using (don't tell the Etiquette police)!  I guess I could suck it up and buy a few more myself so we have a set of 4 or 6 and then register for another 4 or 6 in another pattern.  But that would make me sad...

Crate and Barrel, why must you change things so often?  It's not conducive to registries!  I guess this is why you're supposed to do your registry at 6 months out (did mine early at prodding from the FMIL and because it's fun)...

    Hey,
I also registered at Crate & Barrell and had the same exact problem. My casual dining stuff was spring/summer stuff and the wedding was in October. I ended up going to crate & barrel and buying all of it myself. I saved the receipts. Then when the wedding was over and I'd received gift cards (and some stuff that I didn't really care for) I returned the the dinnerware and repurchased it with gift cards.

The warehouse does keep a certain amount of extras that it does not list as in stock online or in the store. They make sure that there is always enough stuff available to complete a registery - it just won't be easy for your guests to do it themselves.

I know its a pain, but the staff was really excellent, so it really wasn't bad at all.
