Do It youself wedding venues/reception sites?!

Does anyone know of any wedding/reception sites in central (with 1hour of augusta) Maine that allow you to "do it yourself." My fiance and I and our families would love to create our own wedding/reception with our specific "must haves". We have a lot of the details figured out already but are looking for a blank canvas to create our dream wedding.
Any suggestions/ideas from anyone? Thank you all for your input!! :)

  • A venue similar to that would be perfect! We are planning on about 150(give or take) with almost everything DIY. We haven't set an exact theme quite yet, but our colors are veering toward a vintage theme (vintage pinks, taupe, ivory, seafoam green..etc) We'd like to have our ceremony outdoors and ceremony inside. A rustic Barn would be perfect for our theme, lights, etc. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to advise.

We're using Echo Hill in St George. I googled mapped at and it's just over an hour from Augusta. It has a rustic vibe, is very affordable, everything is DIY and you can rent it for an entire weekend. The owners have been great to work with. Their website is awful but you can use your imagination :
  • my wedding and another girl on here (nikkay19) are having our weddings at the chandler house bed and breakfast in new gloucester.  however, it can only fit about 120 people give or take.  but i am doing everything right there- getting ready, ceremony and reception. the barn is gorgeous and super affordable! and the people that own it are SOO nice! i rented the barn, the guest house and the field for only 1200.

  • Have you looked at the Ducktrap Retreat in Lincolnville?  Just over an hour from Augusta.  It's a lovely setting, and you can really do what you want with the space.  They price it differently depending on what you want (they also have a few rooms and cabins on the property), and I think the capacity is over 150.

  • We are having our wedding at Campy Ketcha in Scarborough. It is fully DIY and there polices are very simple and open. The women who handles the rentals is also very friendly and easy going. Good Luck!
  • Thanks for all of this information. I haven't been on a while, but will be checking all of these out! I hope we can find something affordable and beaitiful for our vintage wedding day. It is hard to stick to a budget. I want our whole wedding to be under 8,000 if we can. Sometimes, it's not always so easy.  : P
