Another Invite Question...........

How much is it for a normal set of invites (Standard Pocket)?

OR

What do you think is a good budget number to stick with? What is too much ?

I just got my quote back from my first appt and WOW!!!!!

Really ? For paper...I couldn't believe my eyes.

I don't have a set budget for it, and money isn't a issue.. But I do not want to dish out almost 2k for 75 invites, menus and name tags. (I'm kinda of a cheap ohh.. I like to get the best deals)

Thanks for the help Ladies!!!

I didn't do menus, and my escort cards (is that what you mean by name tags?) were DIY.  My invites were printed online, and though they weren't pockets, they included all the usual mumbo jumbo and cost a little over $300 for 100.  So I think you're getting screwed.  You can get escort cards on Etsy fairly cheap (I think I was looking at $50 for cards and having names handwritten on them), or print your own from Staples for $10-20.  Menus...I dunno.  Shouldn't be that much.  Again, you can have nice ones made on Etsy or DIY them cheaply.

Sera, where did you get that quote? When I was first looking, I went to a stationery store and found a book that was just pockets. Prices weren't THAT high for 75.

I ended up making my own though. I used cardsandpockets.com for the pocket and matte, but purchased Crane cardstock for all my printed pieces. All together, I probably spent about $3 a piece because of the Crane stock (Crane isn't cheap). I used a laser printer at my old office to print and they let me do it free.

That seems like an insane price to me, I like what they have on vistaprint and I think that is what we'll use.

Yes escort tags(sorry)..they were only $.75 each LOL.. everything else was a millions bucks.

I nicely told her thanks for her time, but we have to keep shopping around.  No way in !<a href="mailto:!@#">@#%</a> am I paying more for paper then my own dress.

I looked online, but we have crazy wedding colors.. Purple and Orange.. and no where has anything to match.. well that I found so far. I am going to try Costco.com they had some neat ones and Etsy. Maybe I should have picked better colors..

I am going to try to PM you since I don't want to put "them" out there like that. I mean they had nice things and were super nice. (But I have the sample of the one paper from C&P and it only cost me a $1, not $8)

I did order samples from cardsandpockets.. but I am so nervous to do them myself.. I might take the drive and do it. What can it hurt.

My favorite vendor is Checkerboard -- they probably can do your colors. Whenever I make an invitation or card, I look through their books for inspiration!

I have an invite list of only 40 with the need for only 20 invitations...imagine my horror when the numbers started coming in for that quantity.  I wanted something amazing but not at $10 per invitation...or so I thought! LOL!
In the end I went with the invitation only and not all of the extra fluff.  It is a small group and we know everyone who is coming or not coming.  The reception is at the venue so I did not see a need for a RSVP card.  We just added the reception to follow at the bottom of the invitation.
I then decided that I wanted my Granddaughters who are 5 and 3 to design the card.  I took the design...a stick figure of a bride and groom...ABSOLUTELY PRECIOUS...I have a veil and flowers and my groom has a top had and bow tie....priceless.  Again, I took the design to Preston's in Bel Air and they put it on my invitation and it is beautiful....a brown card with an ivory top with ribbon around the back side...a white label on the bottom of the back identifying that the illustration was by the girls....and envelopes that were completed by Prestons as well- very elegant! ...this all cost $220.00....I thought was outrageous but what are you gonna do?  It is $150.00 set up fee right off the bat.
I am also using the same design by the girls to get my address labels completed professionally...I thought it would be a nice touch...over the top but I am so into this now!!! LOL!
So...if you have to spend the money...make it something that you love!
They say the invitation sets the mood...our mood is Family and the girls drawing certainly says Family to us.
    Good Luck!

I definitely think you can find someone on Etsy to use them.  Cards and Pockets probably has the colors you're looking for, and a lot of girls DIY from there so if you're feeling up to it, you could get a lot of help on the DIY board putting together your own!  Good luck!

My friend just used Preston's and while her invites are gorgeous, she paid $600 for about 150 invites.  I hear from other's too that they're expensive.  I'm making my own.  Blank invites from a craft store are cheap and I grabbed a bunch of stuff from the scrapbooking/stamping aisle to help.  My supplies cost less that $40

Yeah I have a feeling they are gonna be pricy.. I am going to amuse my mom and FMIL.

I made 3 more appts.  And found some super cute ones on Etsy.

So if all else fails I will be making my own.. I went on a couple sites yesterday to get some pocket prices and some ideas.

I need to stop slacking on wedding plans AHH!

    Regarding Preston's being expensive....
You have to remain in control of what you say yes to when purchasing your invitations...do you really need all the fluff that causes the price to go up???
Do you need the pocketbook with more paperwork in it then when you purchase your first home??? I don't think so! But some like that stuff.
We did not...we stuck to an inviation only and kept our cost down.
    You run the show...not them.

Kim @ Preston's was super helpful. She gave us ideas of ways to cut the cost down.

I have 2 more appts.. then we are going to pick what we are going to do.
