Shower Games

Ok, I'm doing my 1 post minimun requirement!!!Tell me about the games that were played at your shower...My mom is kind of anti-cheesey shower games so she wants to think of "painless" (as she says) things to do besides eat and presents!

We did the book that people pass around the table (pass to person in longest dress, who drove the farthest, who is wearing color of wedding, etc.), and set a timer while we were opening the gifts and whoever's present we were opening, that person got a gift basket. The table game winners won the centerpieces.INCREDIBLY quick and painless. I was anti games and these were in good taste. I recommend either for any bride who hates games.

    1) Pass the poem icebreaker to win the centerpiece. (My sis made up each verse about me and FI... it was so cute!)2) Sent blank recipe cards with the invitation. Drew recipes to win themed gift baskets (themed around our relationship... first date basket, first trip basket, engagement basket, etc.)3) Good 'ol Bridal Bingo

We did that purse game where you get a list of random things with points next to it and if you have them you get the points for that item. We also did a game where we have fake money placed at each table setting. We ask the guests a list of questions... 20 questions to be precise. It went like this "Pass $2 to your left if you have ever been married", Pass $5 to your right if you told someone you loved them today", "Pass $1 to your left if you have known the bride for more then 1yr" and so on and so forth. As people start to get more money we held any auction and auctioned off the gifts with the fake money they received from the game.

We did a "Perfect Pair" game - FI & I stood with our backs to each other, each holding one my shoes & one of his shoes. MOH asked questions (ex. "When you two go out, who drinks the most?") then we had to hold up the shoe of the person that fit the answer. It was really cute & I usualy hate shower games. The guests had to guess how many we'd get right.

I'm not having a shower but I hate the games as well.  My sister did bridal mad libs and it was pretty funny.  You can google it to find a template or write a story of your own and take out some of the words to be filled by your guests.  She just had one of her BMs randomly walk up to people and ask them for a noun/verb/whatever.  When they had everything filled in they read it to the group and everyone got a good laugh.  Another one that was totally painless - write a few key things (names, dates, etc) on the bottom of the paper plates and mix them into the stack.  Whoever ends up with those plates gets a prize.  Just make sure you tell people BEFORE the plates start getting thrown out... our mistake.

Since we had about 75-80  guests  at the shower we had to keep it simple....so we did the purse points game as mentioned above, at the beginning we did a wedding movie scramble and the prizes for that were popcorn buckets w/ box candy, wedding movie, and bottle of pop. We also randomly taped $5 giftcards to the bottom of chairs ( we did 1 card for each table) and at some point you just announce guests to look under chair to see if they won. Also my Bridesmaids sent out recipe cards with the invitation and we drew one card for a prize And finally we had guests fill out their address on an envelope and drew names to give away the centerpieces ( vases w/flowers) we had 18 total vases So we had 5 movie buckets, 10 gift bag prizes for purse points and recipe game and 5 gift card for chair game plus the 18 vases that were given away.
