Is this "enough"??

We are inviting 150 people to our October wedding and are expecting around 120 to show. Currently we are registered at BBB & Williams Sonoma. I feel like I have registered for everything that we want, and we are only at 64 items (including 12 sets of china...). Assuming most of the people we are inviting are couples, this seems like enough since couples will bring one gift but in reality am I not giving our guests enough options? I don't want to register for stuff we don't want/need. Everything we are registering for is kitchen stuff- I don't want towels, sheets etc because those are things that are replaced often and honestly I always think "tacky" when I see those items on registeries. How do I deal with this??

Save the dates are going out this week, which have our wedding website on them, which contains links to our registeries...so I want to make sure this is right.

    Agree with PP, you can stop if you want.  But sheets and towels aren't tacky.  I think it's really strange that you feel that way.

    well the main reason for not registering for bed sheets is because FI move around every few years (we are alternating grad school- I did my master's, now he is doing his, then I'm going to start my PhD, then he is going to do his)...we do not own a bed set (our current bed is included with the apartment) and do not know if we are going to have a king or a queen next year. And again I do think it is tacky but that is my personal opinion ;)

    I WISH someone would buy us the $200 sheet set :-( Not because of the quality but  because FI sweats a LOT and is a furnace and it's moisture wicking...We did register for towels and my Aunt sent money for them so I got a different set and took some off the registry but left the huge hotel quality ones on there...

    You absolutely do not have to register for as many items as you have people attending your wedding.  Many stores recommend this because they want to sell more stuff.    If you've registered for what you want, then stop.  People can always give you cash or gift cards to the stores you've registered at.

    We're not registering for sheets for the same reason--we're not sure whether or not we're going to replace our bed soon and get a different size.

    Still don't get what's tacky about it, though. I have seen some weird opinions about what is tacky to register for and what is not, but this seems to be the strangest.

    Anyway, I wouldn't add to the registry if I were you.

    Don't take this the wrong way but... at some point you'll need to buy a bed.  And bed linens are very expensive.  FI and I currently have a queen each (we do not live together), but we are buying a king once he graduates from law school and moves in with me (I'm moving to a different state in May to start work), which will actually be a year or so after the wedding. Even though I'll have to store it for a year, we're registering for a new bedding set.  If you really think it's tacky that's fine, but buying a new bed, mattress, and bedding linens all at once will cost you a fortune.  If we can save several hundred bucks on sheets, a duvet, comforter, blankets, pillows, shams, quilts, and the like because of wedding gifts then it's worth the storage space to me.

    I'm dying to know why you think registering for towels and sheets is tacky. Don't mean it in a bad way, but I'm racking my brain here and can't figure out why someone would think that.

    My parents have towels that were wedding gifts that they still use. They've been married for over 30 years.

    They have sheets that are about 25 years old.

    And they CERTAINLY have blankets in regular use that were wedding gifts. At their vacation home, they have lots of Grandma's things. Some of those blankets may have been in the family for longer than my parents have been married.

    You didn't register for open-stock china? 12 place settings would be 60 open-stock gifts.

    I'm not registering for sheets or towels either... simply because i already have them. Personally i feell like those kind of gifts are for couples who are going to be living together for the first time once they get married.... otherwise wouldn't you already have sheets?

    I see a lot of couples now register for nice board games (like the wooden ones at Target) and movies and cutesy things like that, if you've already put enough housewares on your registry. There's also outdoorsy stuff like hoses, camping equipment, and all that. If you think it's full enough, don't worry about it, but you can always get creative with the list!

    My FI and I have two registries - one at Target for the traditional stuff (pots and pans, toasters, linens, etc.) and one on Amazon for cutesy stuff like mentioned above. We registered for board games, feet & calf massagers (we both work high stress standing-for-a-long-time jobs), DVD sets of our favorite shows, etc. We did the silly stuff online because we figured our friends were more likely to use that, while older more traditional guests were more inclined to use the brick and mortar Target registry!
