japanese steakhouse RD

hey ladies! so my FMIL asked me if my FI and i would like to go to one of those japanese restaurants where they cook the food in front of you for our RD, and we LOVE those, so i said, "sounds good!" my question is, do you guys know of any that have a private room for such an occasion? like do they have an extra big table so everyone can sit together while they cook? or would we be separated into tables of like...8? we're getting married at club hillbrook in chagrin falls, so if you know any nearby, let me know :) and please share your experiences if you had your own RD there! thanks so much!!!

    Whatever you do, don't go to Benihana on Chagrin.  It is disgusting.  FI and I both got sick the last time we went there.

    We just were at Shintos for a large birthday party and thought on the way in – this could be nice for SIL Rehearsal dinner! After eating there though, I will be honest - it was not condusive to talking with anyone other than the person to the left/right of you. I didn’t get to chat with half the people on the other side of the cooktop or the other cooktop backed up to ours. Just something to think about. Not sure about any locations with a large cooktop but I would imagine it would pose the same problems.

    Otani's in mayfield/lyndhurst area was good the one time i was there :)Too bad Fujiyama isn't on that side of town. I love that place. Mmm shrimp sauce i want some RIGHT NOW.

    hmm....:::scratches head, thinking::: welp... There is the Samurai in Bainbridge/Aurora area, but I don't think they have a separate room. Kind of a smaller place...? GOOD food though :) And then there is Akira Hibachi in Solon (by Borders and Old Navy), AWESOME food, nicest people! They have a larger area for hibachi, so they might be able to help you out. And, yes (Heidi PP) there is also Otani's in Mayfield area and Benihana on Chagrin Boulevard..., yum yum yummy!

    thanks for all your suggestions so far! shintos was so good! we went there for our engagement dinner with both sets of parents the weekend we got engaged :) i dont remember a private room, but i'll definitely check it out! and i am so with you on fujiyama, heidi!!! LOVE that place! now i want shrimp sauce hahaha i've also been to akira in solon before, and when i mentioned it to erik, he said he thinks he remembers that bigger room you were talking about, so we'll give them a call too :) you're right, they are so nice there! i figure, if we can at least all be at the same table in a private room or something (or even a few tables in a private room), once they are done cooking, it wont be loud anymore, and we can all talk. i'm just hoping for the one giant table thing lol

    How many people?We sat at a giant table at Otani's in Mayfield. There was maybe 20 of us. It was at the back of the room but not a private room.

    unfortunately i dont know that since it's still far away :/ i just figured i would do a lil research since my FMIL asked about it :) i'll definitely keep that place in mind though!!! :D
