Central PA planning from Austin TX! Help

Hello fellow brides! My fiance and I are recently engaged and starting to plan our wedding.  We live in Austin, TX but we will be getting married in or around Harrisburg, PA.  It's hard enough trying to plan a wedding when you live in the city you are getting married in but from so far away?? I'm feeling quite overwhelmed...excited, but overwhelmed.  I just don't know exactly how to go about doing all of this.  Picking out the bridesmaids dresses with them(they are all up in NJ/NY/PA), food/cake tastings, etc..so much to do and I can't afford to travel back and forth each time something comes up.  What can I do to make this go smoothly?? Thanks!!!!!

First, congratulations! Do you have family or friends in the area that could help out? I had a friend who was planning her wedding from Hong Kong and her mom was a huge help in the planning process. She also was able to do a lot of things through email and was able to schedule all of her tastings for the week she was in town. Vendors were able to work with her through the long distance and I'm sure vendors around here would be able to work with you. If they're not, you probably don't want to use them anyway. I'm having the same trouble with the bridesmaid dresses, my girls are in Boston, NJ, and NC. I'm just planning on finding dresses online and then emailing back and forth with them. It's not ideal, but there's no way to get us all together to go dress shopping. If you have to come up for some things, you could have your bridesmaid that lives in PA meet you and try on a few dresses that you like so you could see what it looks like on. Good luck!!

Aww, I used to live in Austin! Congrats on your engagement. My best friend, who lives in Houston, just got engaged, so I know what you mean about bridesmaids dresses. I'm just letting her take the reigns and pick what she wants, LOL!
