to do makeup or not to do makeup...

that's my big question right now :)So, I had my makeup trial run yesterday!  Loved it ~ it was sooo much fun!  The problems are:#1.  Whew is it expensive!!!  Buying all of the makeup in prep for the big day was about $250!!! (trail was free)#2.  I normally don't wear a lot of makeup and I told my artist to keep it natural and simple, but still he wanted to excentuate my eyes and lips, so I did end up with more than normal makeup there.  #3.  (This should probaly be #1)  FI didn't "love" it.  He was "fine" with it and said that whatever I want and am comfortable in, but he doesn't think I need anything additional.  So, I'm really torn here and am not sure what to do...any thoughts or suggestions.  The good thing is that if I decide to do something else, I can alway take back all of the makeup to Sephora.  Any thoughts, suggestions, reccomendations??Thanks so much ladies!!!

    I think you need to wear what you are comfortable in. The thing to also remember is that you may need a little more then usual to show up in your photographs. You shouldn't be uncomfortable but I think a little more in certain areas may be a good thing.

    agree~ if your not comfortable i wouldnt do it and if FI didnt really like it then i really wouldnt do it Prom i so regretted not doing my own makeup to this day. i had a makeup artist do it and i hated it boyfriend (now FI) told me he hated it and that she did a horrible job...that i could have done better- it just wasnt t me it kinda ruined my day dont ruin your day

    Just a suggestion, get it done at a salon and then you don't have to buy 250 bucks of makeup and you spend 40 bucks on the work and your done with it! My makeup lady said she wouldnt do anything I wasn't comfortable with and if I didn't like something she would change it! IMO do what you like not what the make up person likes because they don't know your personality!!

    I used Kerry Rihtar of All Eyes on You and the thing I liked about her was that she was focused on making me look the way that I wanted to look. She'd stop after doing something and let me look in the mirror and then decide if i wanted her to go darker, lighter, etc. At my trial run with her, I kinda let her do whatever she wanted, with a little of my own commentary. I loved what she did at the trial, but when I got pictures back that i had taken that day, I realized I looked kinda washed out. So on the actual wedding day, I spoke up more (which is what she wanted all along), and I'm glad I did. I loved the outcome, and I loved the pictures. The two things that seem like red flags in your situation are 1) he excentuated your eyes and lips even after you told him not to, and 2) you'd have to spend all that $ on make-up. With Kerry (and I think a lot of others), she brought all the make-up with her. My whole thing on my wedding day is that I wanted to look like ME, but just a little more done-up. Sounds like that's what you want too. If you're comfortable doing your own make-up, go for it. But if you want it professionally done, seek out someone else. You could get another trial and day-of services and still pay less than the $ you'd spend on make-up. Just a thought. Good luck! :)
