Florist Proposal

Hi Ladies! Not sure if anyone can help me out with this but I'm having a difficult time trying to figure out if the florist proposal I received is considered average pricing or not. I'm having my wedding on Halloween this year and will only have about 50-60 guests. Any input would really help as to whether you think this is about right or even what you're spending would be great!! Here's what I'm getting along with the pricing: - Bridal Bouquet of Black Magic and Black Beauty roses, burgundy and orange dahlias, sunset callas and burgundy orchids. The bouquet will be tied with ivory ribbon. Cost: $225.00  - Bridesmaid Bouquets: Two bridesmaids will carry orange bouquets of roses, dahlias, mokara orchids, and callas. Touches of chocolate cosmos will be added. Bouquets will be tied with black ribbon. $75.00 each - Two fathers and one grandfather will wear sunset calla boutonnières. $10.00 each - Two mothers and one grandmother will wear orange cymbidium orchid corsages (pin-on). $20 each - Ceremony Flowers: The ceremony area will have two modern arrangements on either side of the couple. Black manzanita branches in black wooden containers will be placed on metal columns. Orange candles will be hung from the trees (Five each tree), and orange dahlias will be tucked in to the branches (five each side). Orange and white mini pumpkins will be tucked in to the base of the tree moss.  Columns, branches, hanging candles and containers are rental. – Two trees @ $150.00 each - White wax vessels - Six at $10 each - White rose petals will be scattered down the aisle. $75.00 - Centerpieces: Six centerpieces in faux pumpkins. Flowers will be in shades of orange, and will include roses, marigolds, orchids, dahlias and carnations. Chocolate cosmos will be added as accent flowers. $75.00 each   - Each dining table will have four tall floating candles with orange orchids inside (glass is rental)--24 at $5 each- Orange petals will be scattered down the table--$20.00   - Tall votives with floating candles will be placed on head table with orange orchids inside. Glass is rental.   Eleven at $5 each

Some of it seems reasonable, and some of it seems high to me. My estimates were lower, and I used all calla lillies. I thought roses were cheaper than callas, but maybe I'm wrong. Have you asked for quotes from several different florists? This can help you get an idea of what is normal. I know some of my quotes were quadruple the florist that I booked with. If you haven't already, get a quote from Amanda with Butterfly Petals. She is fabulous. Also, from the description of the flowers, I am anxiously awaiting pictures of your reception!!

I don't know if you would want to attempt this but to save a lot of the cost you could try and put together your own centerpieces for the reception.. I know Michaels have a lot of their fake fall flowers out and they look very real.. Also another thought is buying your own vases because after your wedding you could always resell them.

I agree with pp some of it sounds reasonable, not cheap, and some of it sounds a little over priced. I would get another quote if I were you. GL!

Yeah, you should definitely forgo the rentals from the florist.  You might as well buy them and resell them later, and if someone happens to break something, you won't have to pay an arm and a leg as a "replacement" fee.  I think the boutonniere price is a steal compared to what I have seen, but the corsages look pretty pricey.  Some brides have the mothers wear a jazzed up version of the boutonniere to save money.  The colors sound absolutely gorgeous though!

Mostly I think your flowers look reasonable, there are some that are higher then I was quoted with the 3 vendors I looked at but overall you are okay.  I would recommend getting a second quote, at least then you will have something to compaire to.  You can try my vendor, she was very reasonable.  Her website is flowepowerweddings.com.

It seems pretty reasonable to me.  I also suggest looking at other vendors.  We're using Jen from Ever After Florals.  But her's and Amanda's from Butterfly Petals were about the same price.  We had 4 quotes from vendors.  Jen's and Amanda's were the best.  Flower's by Jodi and Barrington's were sky high.  Definitely look at more vendors if you're not sure.

Thanks for all the replies! I've asked the florist to lower the prices to numbers that I'm more comfortable with. I'm also thinking about checking with another florist just in case! Thanks and good luck to everyone! :)

If you want to lower your cost- cut the orchids.  Those by far will increase your cost substantially.  I know that when I wanted orchids in my BM bouquets it increased them by $20.00 each- so I would imagine this would carry over to all of your arrangements.
