to elope or not to elope

things are getting so frustrating - i know im at that point but ugh seriously?! im getting slack from not asking a sister in law that im not close with to be a BM ~ and im really not getting along with my mom/sister(MOH) - my dad was laid off the beginning of the summer and i just feel bogged down with everything - PLUS finding $$ to pay for everything is so stressful - i know everyone has $ issues when planning a wedding but i just feel like eloping would just be the best way - then have a nice reception in the future at some point? idk is it a bad thing to think this?? lol

    Don't elope! everyone feels this way at some point, but the day will be well worth it!

    The above person is right...everyone does feel that way at some point.  I certainly have been there and still feel like i"m there somedays.  I would say that if you don't have deposits on everything, consider eloping.  However, make sure you are ok with your wedding vision.  If you elope, you might totally be disappointed that it wasn't anything like your wedding dream.  If you have no deposits, you're ok with your wedding vision, and you FI is ok with everything too, do it.  Just my opinion though.

    I wouldn't so elope like go to a courthouse but I would go to an island and get married in a second!!!  Unless everyones handing you money it's not fun....the stress of saving for the wedding is the worst and I'm sure my wedding day would be great but if I had to do it again I would so go to an island b/c most of the $ you spend isn't for you or your FI.I say do what you can afford and what you want....we wanted an island wedding and got convinced into this and all the stress that comes with it and I do not think it's worth it.  The important thing is that your marrying your FI not everything else and that can be done for nothing.  It's not woth it too pinch pennies and stress yourself out so you can throw a party for everyone else.Good Luck!!

    People elope all the time and there is nothing wrong with it. My suggestion is to do what your heart tells you to. I see nothing wrong with it at all and, if my situation was different, I would be eloping myself. Weddings are a lot of money for just one day. Go to an island with 10 or 20 people and just do it.

    We thought about having a destination wedding also on an island with just a few people. But when I really thought about it, I knew that one day i would regret not having a wedding at home with all of our family and friends. Yes most of ths stress is caused by money and other people's requests. But in the end I would deal with all the stresses again just to share our day with all of our close family and friends. If eloping is something that you really want then absoultely do it, just make sure you think about it and know you won't regret it in the future.
