Groomsmen dropouts

Two groomsmen both dropped out of the wedding party on the same day. They are twins and called my fiance at two different times on the same day to back out of the wedding. They are in school in both said they have test issues for the day of the wedding. I personally feel they can work around it, and it seems as though they just do not want the extra stress of the wedding. It is about 2 1/2 months before the wedding and we don't know what to do. We have other guys to ask but we feel as though it is insulting this late in the game. I have 8 bridesmaids, now we have 6 groomsmen.. suggestions?!

    Don't fill the spots. We have three groomsmen and six bridesmaids. You'll be fine. The only ones who even end up thinking its weird are the grandmas.

    If they can't be in it, they can't be in it.I'm not sure what "extra stress" they could be under... it's you and your fiance's husband's wedding, not theirs. What stress do you think they could be under regarding this wedding? "I have 8 bridesmaids, now we have 6 groomsmen.. suggestions?!"uhhh.... move on. So what if your wedding party is uneven? As long as you have people up there you care about, why should it matter to you how many there are? Quality over quantity, imo.

    Education issues trump a wedding, IMO.Wedding parties are not about symmetry.  They are about having those closest to you stand with you on your wedding day.  More and more couples are realizing this and have uneven WPs.Don't get "replacements".  Is it really better to have random people standing with you and your FI so that you have symmetry in your photos?As for processional/recessional:  A couple of luck GM escort two lovely ladies, or you do a single file weave and have everyone except you and your new DH walk alone.

    Just go on without replacing them.And, don't assume that you know anything about their lives, their educational requirements, or their finances.  They have said no, dropped out, and that's that.  You can "personally" feel however you want about their decision but IMO, education trumps wedding every single time-regardless of how the bride feels.

    Well shame on them for having test issues. Anyways do not fill their spots. it is ok to not have even sides, noone is going to care.

    Don't replace them.  The WP roles aren't parts in a play and symmetry isn't required.  Second fiddle attendants feel like second fiddle attendants.  It's not nice to them and it's not nice to the people who backed out to make them feel like they're replacable.Beyond that, it's not appropriate for you to presume.  If they do have test issues then understand that those can be VERY legitimate issues.  When I was in college, some tests were given to everyone taking the class on the same night in different rooms.  There were no make-up exams and no professor would understand that the test had to be missed for a wedding.  Even the death of a loved one would create suspecting educators.You need to trust your GM that they can't be in the wedding.  Now just relax and move on that you have an uneven party.
