Do you know the difference?

I received this email a couple of weeks ago but it was not until today when I was in a fitting room that I actually took a second to a do check...so I figured why not share it with everyone.

2 - WAY GLASS  IMAGE

MIRROR  IMAGE

A Mirror or a 2-Way Glass?
How can you tell when you are in a room, restroom, motel etc. with a mirror or a 2-way glass?

Here's how: I thought it was quite interesting! And I know in about 30 seconds you're going to do what I did and find the nearest mirror.

Do you know how to determine if a mirror is 2-way or not? A policewoman who travels all over the US and gives seminars and techniques for businesswomen passed this on.

When we visit toilets, bathrooms, hotel rooms, changing rooms, etc., how many of you know for sure that the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on the wall is a real mirror, or actually a 2-way mirror (i.e., they can see you, but you can't see them)? There have been many cases of people installing 2-way mirrors in female changing rooms . It is very difficult to positively identify the surface by looking at it.

So, how do we determine with any amount of certainty what type of mirror we are looking at?

Just conduct this simple test: Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface and if there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail, then it is GENUINE mirror.
However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image of your nail, then BEWARE! IT IS A 2-WAY MIRROR!

"No Space, Leave the Place" So remember, every time you see a mirror, do the "fingernail test." It doesn't cost you anything.

REMEMBER. No Space, Leave the Place.

lol, yeah the best test would be "if there is a wall behind the mirror, its not a fake mirror". Unless there is a person hiding in the wall.

I think that's a good test, as is "Am I in a prison or mental health facility, or am I in a bathroom in a private residence?"

Or are sneaky fake mirrors really common in everyday life and I just don't know it?

    LOL

I think that if you are using a bathroom in a prison or mental health facility you may have other issues other than sneaky fake mirrors ;]

My MIL is responsible for 99% of my Snopes traffic.  But even with that, I can't win.  She'll send an email through with a "do you think this is true?" message, and if I reply with a Snopes (or similar) link, she'll respond with a "Who pays for that site?"  Because the whole world, including Snopes, is a liberal conspiracy to her.  I kind of wish my husband would man up and finally admit to his parents that he married a non-religious liberal so they would maybe remove me from their propaganda mailing list :)

I think it's illegal to have 2 way mirrors in fitting rooms.  They can have cameras though, monitored by same sex personel.

The whole fitting room thing irks me.  I am not the kind of person that goes into the fitting room with my DW, but I usually sit in the chair they have in the common area and she comes out and shows me the things she is trying on so she doesn't have to come out into the store.  I have been asked many times to leave that area by store employees because "a guy shouldn't be in here."

Fast forward to the guys dressing room......many times I have been in ones that have crappy doors, like they didn't line up right and were like shutter doors with vent slots in them, can kind of see right in....and I have been in there changing when female employees just come walking in to get cloths left by other guys in the other dressing rooms.  If a male employee did that in the female dressing room, I am sure he would be fired.
