Reception sites in Twin cites

Hello everyone, Im in dramatic needs for suggestions. Me and my fiancée are planning to get married on Sept 8th 2011. We originally had a wedding budget of around $12,000 but he has just recently been laid off so we are trying to still pull the wedding off.  If you know of any halls, vfw or recption sites with some kind of charm that would let us bring in our own food and decorate. I still want to have a great wedding but I don't want to feel like I gave up on all of the elements that I have always wanted. We would like to stay close to the twin Cites but I know the further you go out the less expensive. I know there is something out there for us. Also, if you have any DYI tips that would also be helpful. Thanks in advance. guest around 100-130.

My fiance and I are looking at having our wedding reception at the Uptown VFW. I know that is not everyone's scene, but we love the Uptown setting and love the freedom we are given at the VFW. For $500 to rent the space and a $200 bar minumum, you can do your own catering, decorating, etc... They set up the bar and tables for you, and you are pretty much on your own from there. It seats up to 220 I believe.

I have heard good things about the Eagan Community Center, but I have never visited myself.

I got married in the millennium hotel dome. It was beautiful. I loved the skyline in the background. They normally have a food and bev min, no room rental fee, of $7,000. However I got married during their off season, Dec.-May, so the food and bev min was wavied which saved me thousands. The hotel included so many things like tables, linens, flatware, penthouse suit plus 2 regular hotel rooms. It was great. My wedding was around 8K.

Also check out The Knot MN Wedding Venues.  Click on the link below and sort by dollar amount (on the left hand side of the page).  There are a lot of options under one dollar sign!  Good luck!
