LAKE WEDDING?

I'm looking for a place to have both the ceremony and reception. Both outdoor and indoor accommodations. Preferably lodging near by! I'm looking in to lake ojoboji for example, but I'm not sure who to go with for vendors! HELP! PS- How does everyone feel about friday evening weddings/ if you had one-- how did yours go!?!? :)

Not sure about the outdoor but.....I am getting married on a friday and we are having a much bigger turn out than I thought would show. Plus we got our hall 800 bucks cheaper. I was in a friday wedding last year. It was so nice to relax the rest of the weekend.

I, personally, am not a fan of Friday weddings. It is always a struggle getting to the wedding in time, because of work. That being said - if you choose to do a Friday wedding, remember that the important people will make it work. :) I was in a Friday wedding last fall, and while it was difficult with my job, it all worked out. There weren't very many people at the ceremony, but everyone showed up later on in the night. It can sure save you tons of money!! :)

One of my dear friend's married at Okoboji and hands down, it was one of the nicest, most intimate weddings I've been to.  Her wedding was at a lutheran church camp on the southern tip of west lake (I may be wrong on the lutheran, but there is a big white cross right on the edge of the cliff overlooking the lake).  The reception was on the Queen riverboat and Valentinos catered. I know that sounds tacky but it was soo quaint!  They served salad, and chicken and pizza.  The cake was delish.  I'll have to ask her who made it.  I'll get all of her details and I can email them to you.  Shoot me an email at ladyhusker814@yahoo.com and I'll reply to you.

I'm planning either a Friday evening wedding, or a Sunday brunch wedding.  I don't want the all day prep-fest, or a huge all day shindig so a friday late wedding, with hor doerves and cocktails is plenty for me.

I'm looking for the same thing. Have you found anything out about Okoboji? I think that sounds great. Also, don't forget about the Lied Lodge in Nebraska City, NE. So far all of the things I have found aren't within my budget I don't think.

One of my girlfriends is in charge of the Iowa Rock n roll hall of fame, which is based in Ojoboji IA.  I can get tons of suggestions, free of charge, just email me at lisa.cook@ops.org
