VENDOR REVIEWS 8/29/09 It's kinda long!

Ok here are our vendor reviews for our wedding. However first you should hear the nightmare that revolved around our wedding, I had a baker cancel on me 2 and half weeks before the wedding. Then the day before the Best Man falls off a ladder while helping me put up decorations and shatters one wrist and then we find out he dislocated the other and has to have surgery on both, then I find out that the hair person I was going to use had already made other plans because I had never signed a contract or kept in touch with her so I didn't have anyone to do my hair. Then I get the phone call from our officiant telling me she has broken her foot and is unable to do the ceremony and on top of all of this we were getting married outside and the reception was to be outside as well and as most of you know the weather wasn't the driest or warmest. But it ended up turning out great in the end. Ceremony Location:  Fallasburg park which I have always loved this park and we used one of the picnic areas down by the river, other than the weather, everything went very well. The only thing that I would have to say was a problem was parking because there was a class reunion in the covered pavillion and another wedding in the picnic area so we had to share the small parking lot with both of them because the park manager had called and told us to use that one because another wedding had already booked the enclosed shelter, but he didn't tell us that the other 2 events were going on, luckily we had only about 30 people at the ceremony so it wasn't too much of a problem. so I give them a B+Officiant: A Wedding Minister for you is who we used and they were really good to us but had to change ministers twice on us because the first one we booked our wedding conflicted with her birthing classes so then we got Amie and she was good about keeping in touch and working with us however she calls me the night before the wedding and tells me that she has broken her foot and will be unable to the ceremony and I thought I was screwed but she had already contacted another minister she knew and had gave him all the ino that he needed to do our ceremony so we were covered and I was very grateful after the events that had already happened. so I give them an ALimo: Affordable Limo we used there 14 passenger limo and it was really nice our limo driver was a very nice guy named Jeff. We must have made him do about 5 or 6 50 point turns to get out of some of the places that we went to. It was a very good ride. We went all of the place with it so we difinitley got our moneys worth out of it. And he even let us go over a little bit because they weren't quite ready for us when we got to the reception so we went around the block again so they could get ready. I give them an A++DJ: Soundtastic Entertainment Dan Plew he is from Sparta and he was great. He had many ideas for different things to do during the reception and he asked what we wanted and he didn't try to pressure us into doing anything that we didn't want to do and he was very easy to keep in contact with especially via email, but he was easily reached by phone as well. Overall he was more than what I expected and for what we paid for him. I would definitley recommend him to someone who is looking for a DJ. I give him an A++Flowers: J's Fresh Flower Market great place and Janette is such a nice person. I loved working with her. We made 11 boutonierres, 8 corsages and we were supposed to do 5 bouquets, but Janette ended up making the bouquets for us because of a mix up with the wedding consultant that used to be there. I started off working with Julie and I told her what I wanted and she wrote it down, well she never actually transferred it to the computer of what all the flowers we for and how many of each went into each piece. And in the end the Gerbera Daisies that were ordered were the wrong shad of yellow and I had specifically told her that I wanted the light centers not the dark and every single one of the ones she pulled our for me on the day we went in to do our flowers had a dark center, but she called and fixed it right away and ended up making my bouquet for so they turned out beautifully. I loved all of my flowers. Definitley check them out if you are thinking of dong your own flowers. I give them an A just because of the slight mix up.Cakes: We had originally planned on dong a small 3 tier cake just for the head table and immediate family, however about 2 and half weeks before the wedding the baker that we had booked emailed me to tell me she had been in a car accident and was going to be unable to make my cake after all. I didn't want to stress over it too much and we had already ordered 2 full sheet cakes from Arnies on Leonard so instead of franticaly trying to find another baker we just added another sheet cake to our order and I am glad we did the cakes turned out great and they tasted awesome. I give them an A++Dresses: Bridal Express 44th and Division we worked with Frances and she was great they were great about payment and all of the dresses came in 2 weeks or a month earlier than what was planned. The sizes were almost perfect so only minor alterations needed to be done. I didn't have any problems with them at all. So I give them an ANails: Bella Vista Salon: This was the worst thing we booked, the girls and I went and manicures and pedicures and both were the worst any of us had ever had, we will not go back there for any reason. Both girls that did ours were sloppy and our nails turned out sloppy looking. Our manicures didn't last that long at all they were chipping by the next day. And they didn't have anyone who could put acrylics on I didn't think to ask when I called I just assumed a salon could put acrylics on but apparently they only have one lady who can do it and she wasn't there when we went. Overall it was a very bad experience and way overpriced for what we got. I give them an F and wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Hair: Carmen DeRivera she was the last minute back up plan she is the sister of one of our groomsmen and he came through for me at the last minute the night before he called her up and got her to do my hair for me in the morning. It turned out beautiful and I loved it. so I give her an A++.We didn't use a caterer we made all the food ourselves and our reception was at my parents farm in the pole barn which we completely cleaned out and decorated to look like a wedding hall and it turned out great better than I could have expected. We had some friends of ours do the bartending and liquor and beer came from Port Sheldon Party Store in West Olive, I know the owners personally. I think that is everything sorry this was so long I wanted to get everything in there.

I'm so glad that everything worked out okay for you in the end! That's crazy that that many chaotic things happened!

That is so awesome that she fixed it for you! I met with a girl at J's (she was pregnant, I'm not sure if that was Jeanette). She was awesome, the quote that I got was more than I wanted to spend, especially for do it yourself. So I got a couple of other quotes. One of them was from AndyLous. Their FULL SERVICE prices are cheaper than J's do it yourself prices. I am clearly going with AndyLous!

Yeah when we originally looked into booking Fallasburg park they told us we should also rent one of the pavillions to guarentee parking. Then I started worrying about the weather and had an indoor wedding. Congrats.
