Biltmore (Georgian vs. Imperial) Opinions?

Hi girls! We already put a deposit down on the Biltmore in the bigger room, the Georgian, but they called and now they are going to give us $1500 if we switch to the smaller Imperial Ball room. Both ball rooms are AMAZING and I wouldn't mind getting married in either one. We go back and forth everyday about whether to switch or not. The small room can fit 180ish and we have 206 invites, so we will probably fit. I'm also leaning toward the small one because I don't want everyone leaving the main room for drinks which would be the case in the Georgian. However, I REALLY don't want to feel squished in the smaller room. I know a lot of people have weddings there but I'm not from here and have never been to one.....Opinions???? Thanks!

I have always loved the Imperial for the ceremony. It feels warmer, more like love- where the cool blue of the Georgian is more of a party atmosphere to me, especially with lighting. Are you having your reception in the same room (flipping it)? There is also a pre-function room for the Georgian. :)

I think you'll be ok by going with the Imperial room. Even though you have 206 invites, not everyone will rsvp or show-up; the guest count usually fall off. My sister had her wedding/reception at the Biltmore in 2007. She had about 172 people rsvp and only about 150 showed up. I also like the fact of no one having to leave the main room for drinks.

If the room cannot fit more than 180 and you've invited more than 180 you have a potenital disaster on your hands. We have had quite a few people from out of town we never imagined would rsvp yes that have so don't bank having a certain number of people saying no necessarily.

i have a question about the biltmore...do they offer a saturday evening option? on the website there is only a high noon option and a sunday option
also...how long does it take them to 'flip' a room? what did you/your guests do till the reception?
