Hand Cancelling Invitations

Has anyone had their invites hand cancelled at the post office? I asked mine and they said no way. Do any post offices do it?

    I have heard several times that it is against the USPS policy to hand cancel any regular envelope, although if you play nice and butter up the folks at the post office they may be willing to do it for you anyways!!! Also, if you have irregular envelopes then they would have to be hand cancelled anyways.

    I believe we hand cancelled our save the dates--we just had to do the stamping ourselves.  Of course, I'm sure they still went through machines somewhere along the way before they were delivered.For the invites themselves, we did the drive to Loveville, MD.  They hand cancel everything for you there.

    I took mine to the Glen Burnie Post Office and they said that they would hand cancel and and promised they would not go through the machine. Well, they did and my envelopes were damaged. If someone says they will hand cancel I would confirm with the manager and get a name.
