tagas events-who's used them?

hey just wondering what anyone has to say about tagas--we met with the owner last night and we really liked him and his ideas-and we're going to book them-but I'm still curious who has any experiences good or bad? Thanks!

The owner Bryan, DJ'd my friends wedding, and he did a fantastic job. Kept the party going and wasn't cheezy!! I would def. recommend him and so does my friend, she said he was very professional!!

he was awful. i gave bryan himself a D rating. there is a full review of him in my Planning bio in the vendor section. what it comes down to is that he was not prepared that day- which in my mind is unforgiveable for a wedding vendor who has that one chance to perform as expected.

gorgush,  just wondering.... what did tagas events do wrong exactly? What did they not prepare?   I checked out your recs but didn't see anything.

I used Bryan this weekend for DJing and lighting. I thought everything went great! When people weren't really dancing to club music, he switched to 80's music which got everybody on the floor. He was very professional during the planning process and I have no complaints about him... HTH! :)

I just want to say that Kim used him at her wedding and he was AWESOME! I never would have guessed that he was the same dj that Vanessa had problems with until I saw this thread. Everybody was talking about how great he was. Good luck!

also, on emerlyn's reviews she made a comment about him ignoring the play list and playing the songs they wanted to hear during dinner when they couldn't dance to them. so basically he is still up to some of the same shenanigans.

BTW, only myself and luckilyinlove are the only two girls on here who actually HIRED him. the rest were guests attending weddings where he DJ'd so i am not sure how much you want to take their opinions into account. they would have a totally different opinion of him as guests and would not know what went into the planning process or behind-the-scenes expectations that the bride/groom may have had. if my guests had come on here and posted their experiences at my wedding, i'm sure they would have a totally different perspective contrary to what actually transpired that day.

gorjush, i assure you that my opinion as a guest is as valid as your opinion as a bride. especially since the bride whose wedding i attended was also very impressed by him and just posted it on here. after all, isn't your ultimate goal as a hostess to put on a fabulous party for your guests? alexis is a smart girl. she realizes i was a guest and did not experience whether or not bryan followed all of my demands to a t and had no personal interaction with bryan. there is no need to try to discredit my opinion. i simply said he did a good job in response to alexis's question about whether or not any of us have experience with him. period.

sarah, her post said "who's used them?" i don't think you did. you are definitely entitled to your opinion. but if i were hiring a vendor, i personally wouldn't consider the evaluation of a guest who didn't pay money out of his/her pocket to hire that vendor. and in the case of a wedding, i really don't think the guest's opinion in this case is as valid in the overall picture when it comes to evaluating a vendor's performance b/c their scope of experience is so narrow. we'll just have to agree to disagree on this point.

nice try, vanessa. my opinion as a guest is still valid. she wanted to know about people's experiences with bryan. i had an experience, so i posted it. quit trying to discredit me just because you are so hung up on your hate for this vendor. from what i could tell, and from kimberly's (THE BRIDE'S!!!!!!) review, he did a very good job. so, look. it worked out even better for alexis! she got to hear the opinions of a bride and a guest from the same wedding. to me, that's even more valuable than just the hostess's opinion!

it's funny for you to bring up emotions in this discussion since that has been the topic of the day! i do not "hate" bryan. i just wish i had the same feedback from another BRIDE when i researched him. and that is my personal opinion. and BTW aren't you a mod? I never personally directed anything at you at first but you are really getting extremely involved in this discussion. aren't you supposed to be a "neutral" presence on this board?

and BTW aren't you a mod? I never personally directed anything at you at first but you are really getting extremely involved in this discussion. aren't you supposed to be a "neutral" presence on this board? I am a guest who posted my opinion about a vendor. Yes, I am a mod. I'm also a real bride with real opinions. Mods are allowed to have opinions and to discuss their weddings. In fact, we are allowed to disagree with other knotties. I will continue to respectfully post my opinions on any vendors I have any first-hand experience about, as I am sure you will too. That's what's so great about the knot. We're here to help each other!I'm sorry your music didn't turn out the way you wanted. Look on the bright side! You had a beautiful wedding and got tons of great pics and a nice video. As you said earlier, the pics and video are what you will still have in 10 years. So let's put this behind us and continue to help our fellow knotties with their weddings.Good night! :)

gor, you are the one who stated this earlier today:"i think vendor-brides relationships are very funny though- over the course of planning, many brides forget that the vendor should stay exactly that-- a professional providing a service-- and not get so attached. brides could then avoid getting so offended when someone gives a harsh appraisal of them. "It might serve you well to follow your own advice and quit being so defensive when people have something positive to say about bryan. As you said, it's just business.
