fauther daughter dance

ok I thought I had it figured out but now I can't decide. We are doing one of the dances as me and my father and then my FI and his mom at the same time. background: my dad did not raise me but did come into my life as a pre-teen or so and we have a very good realtionship. However all the songs about daddy's little girl just aren't us. Help! My step-father and I will dance to "you look wonderful tonight".

Do you and your dad share a favorite musician? I didn't want to dance to a daddy's little girl type song either, so we're dancing to While My Guitar Gently Weeps by the Beatles. It's one of my favorite songs, and my dad is a big Beatles fan, so it works for us. Lyrics-wise not a great wedding song, but I don't think anyone will notice or care.

My dad's been in my life, but he did not primarily raise me so I had sort of similar issues to contend with... we opted to do the dance at the same time as DH and his mom, and made it lighthearted and fun. "Pride and Joy" by Marvin Gaye. It was so fun, it's a short song, and we had a blast!

We did Tupelo Honey by Van Morrison. It's not really traditional but it's very much my dad and I. It's a bit long but we cut some out. Side note: If anyone likes classic rock Wedding Song by Bob Dylan was our last song of the night. It was a HUGE hit! If it's your style, you should totally do it.

we did "When you say nothing at all" by Allison Kraus.  My dad and I are close, but in a long-distance, only talk every 2 weeks sort of way.  and i love that song anyway!

You might try asking your dad for suggestions! My dad and I are dancing to "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder because it's what he wanted. :)

My dad and I are the same way. We decided to also dance to "Isn't she lovely." It's fun, cute, not too serious.

I am very close to my dad - but I am not a real mushy person. We have selected "My Wish" by Rascal Flats - which is really on the edge of mushy- but my dad selected it. Have you thought about asking him to select a song? You might be surprised what he would recommend. Two months and counting!

**butting in**OMG Jennifer!! WHY did I not think of that song before now - I have been racking my brain trying to find a recessional song for our guitarist to play and Wedding Song is freaking perfect! If I could I would hug you right now!

Reddie! I'm not lying, it was awesome. It just was perfect! Not only did it fit in well, but it gave the older guests something to smile about since it's Bob Dylan. I couldn't have had a better closing song. It'll be perfect at your wedding, I'm glad I could help.
